RISO showcases secure transpromotional MICR inkjet application at Graph Expo

Press release from the issuing company

Danvers, MA,  – RISO, Inc. will showcase an innovative single-pass, full-color trans-promotional print application with integrated MICR check printing and embedded digital void pantograph security technology in Booth 3111 during Graph Expo 2010 at McCormick Place South in Chicago, October 3-6.

Working in conjunction with partners GMC Software Technology, Arcis Digital Security, Kirk-Rudy, and The Solutions Group, RISO will utilize the ComColor high-speed inkjet printing system to produce the next generation of secure, full-color customer communications at 120 PPM while eliminating the need for pre-printed security check paper stocks.

RISO invites show attendees to visit Booth 3111 and try their hands at decoding the embedded digital void pantograph on these checks and enter a drawing for a chance to win an Apple iPad.

"This application combines a powerful set of leading edge technology to eliminate the need for pre-printed security check stock," says Bob Raus, manager of product marketing for RISO, Inc.  Raus points out that the cost savings are significant as a single sheet of pre-printed security check stock can cost up to five cents alone; and a total of 10 cents or more per page to produce the finished piece. Using plain or pre-perfed white paper means the entire job can be done at a savings of 70% or more using RISO high-speed inkjet printers and accessories.

"Eliminating the need for security check stock is a tremendous cost savings, but it's more than that," adds Raus. "From the cost of purchasing, managing, and labor to move those pre-printed security forms - to the waste associated with unused or damaged forms and the time involved in loading multiple stocks into the machine - this application is a win all around for our customers.  It's impossible to print data on the wrong stock, because the full-color form and embedded digital void pantograph security image are printed along with the data and MICR line in a single pass operation."

Target applications include adding secure convenience checks to credit card statements, transpromotional marketing communications, customer loyalty programs, healthcare explanation of benefits (EOBs), refund letters, and more.

The MICR inkjet solution simplifies short-run check printing with unprecedented cost efficiency and full ANSI compliance. The integrated optical verification for MICR line and 2-D datamatrix bar codes ensures document integrity by cross-checking information from several data-fields to confirm the accuracy and compliance of every sheet. In addition, the application will be printed on pre-perfed white paper stock supplied by Relyco, a leading supplier of MICR check and specialty paper stocks.
