Awards to be presented at Print CEO Forum October 2nd
Lexington, Kentucky USA -- WhatTheyThink.com today reported that Vistaprint CEO Robert Keane has been named a Print CEO of the Year award finalist. A qualifying Print CEO must have been in his or her position for at least two years and have demonstrated inspirational and innovative leadership of a printing company that has shown success during his or her tenure. Success is measured by metrics such as revenue or profit growth, corporate transformation initiatives and/or environmental leadership, or other qualifications the nominator deems important. Awards will be presented at the second annual Print CEO Forum scheduled for October 2nd and 3rd in Chicago.
"Last year the Vistaprint team served over 9 million unique customers, each of whom averaged just $70 per year," said Keane. "The talent of Vistaprint's employees made this possible, so this Print CEO recognition is really in their honor. Looking forward, Vistaprint will continue to focus on serving the very unique needs of micro-businesses through the integration of world class software, sophisticated direct marketing, intensive capital investment and, of course, great employee talent."
Vistaprint was born out of Keane's MBA business plan in 1994 to provide low-cost stationery and related products to micro businesses. After a difficult startup process, Keane reorganized the company in 2000 to become Vistaprint. The dot com bust and economic collapse created additional hurdles for the company to jump over, and Vistaprint had to sell off a division of the company and re-organize yet again to reach profitability. Even with all of this, Keane never gave up. He continued to take advantage of new technologies to improve his products and services. Ten short years later, the company generates revenues of $670 million (Fiscal Year 2010), which includes year-over-year improvement each year since 2000. Operationally, Vistaprint is producing and shipping an average of 53,000 orders each day from the company's three manufacturing plants, and is one of the industry's most often cited success stories. From a technology standpoint, the company holds over 40 patents worldwide.

Awards will be presented to the four finalists and the CEO of the Year at a dinner on October 2nd during the second annual Print CEO Forum, being held at Chicago's prestigious University Club and sponsored by manroland. "It is our hope that all five finalists will be present at this printer-only event to partake in the learning experience, to share their expertise during the conference, and to accept the awards in person," added Davidson.
A preliminary agenda and registration page for the Forum as well as the nomination form for Print CEO of the Year are available at PrintCEOForum.com. WhatTheyThink has also arranged a limited number of rooms at the University Club, should attendees wish to take advantage of the convenience of staying at this exclusive venue during the Forum. Rooms are also available at another nearby hotel.
"While the Print CEO Forum is a printer-only event and the CEO of the Year award is being judged by Print CEO peers," said Davidson, "we are pleased that manroland has agreed to be our sponsor this year, allowing us to grow this exclusive event, add the awards, and make it even more valuable to attendees than last year. We are also very pleased that the suppliers to the industry are supporting this effort by nominating candidates for the award."
