Mechanicsburg, PA — Fry Communications won twelve awards in the 23rd Annual Gold Ink Awards, a competition co-sponsored by industry magazines Publishing Executive, Printing Impressions, and Book Business, including a Gold, Silver, and Bronze Award, and nine Pewter Awards. Fry earned a Gold Award for the MIPTV Edition issue of World Screen News, published by World Screen News, in the Trade Magazines (Web) category, a Silver Award for the Golden Lighting Buyers Book, published by Golden Lighting, in the Business Catalogs (Web) category, and a Bronze Award for the New York Yankees Opening Day Program, published by Skies America Publishing, in the Magazine Covers category.
Fry also received two Pewter Awards in the direct mail category for Not Sure How It All Fits Together? and Directory Publishers Find It Here!, two of Fry’s promotional self-mailers produced on its latest Komori sheetfed press integrating cold foil, multiple UV coatings, embossing and die cutting inline. In the Magazine Covers category, Fry received six Pewter Awards for: the Worth Magazine Feb/Mar 2010 issue and Worth Magazine Dec/Jan 2010 issue, published by Sandow Media; the ASCO Annual Meeting 2010 Announcement and ASCO Annual Meeting Program, published by the American Society of Clinical Oncology; My Lonestar Pages Directory 2010, published by My Lonestar Pages; and the Flagler ’10 – ’11 Visitor and Newcomer Guide, published by the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce. The final Pewter Award was in the Sheetfed Specialty Magazines category for The James Robinson Photo Journal, published by James Robinson Photography.
This year’s Gold Ink Award winners were chosen from nearly 1,200 entries submitted within 47 different categories. Winning pieces surpassed their competitors based on print quality, technical difficulty and overall visual effect. A panel of distinguished graphic arts professionals judged entries over the course of three days.
Fry’s achievements will be honored during the Annual Gold Ink Awards Banquet, October 4th at Hyatt Regency McCormick Place in Chicago during GRAPH EXPO 2010.
