Press release from the issuing company
River Falls, WI – NELA has delivered a fourth Vision Punch/Bender to the North Jersey Media Group printing facility in Rockaway, NJ. The bender addresses the need for increased plate capacity brought about by the recent expansion in commercial printing.
The original North Jersey media installation included a combination bender (NELA VCP-M) for a new Wifag press and MAN Uniset. This bender is able to fully automatically punch and bent plates for both presses. A second Vision Punch/Bender for Wifag plates only and a third bender for multiple Mitsubishi web widths were installed at later dates. The bender for the Mitsubishi press was modified by NELA for a 44"/50" web reduction earlier this year.
The fourth and newest bender will punch and bend multiple plate formats for a Mitsubishi press recently brought back online to provide additional capacity for new commercial work taken on by NJMG.
The system now consists of four NELA Vision PunchBenders, receiving plates from four CtP lines. The benders and CtP devices are connected by a NELA conveyor system that automatically navigates plates for redundancy in certain situations.
The project is a perfect example of NELA's capabilities to assist customers with changing requirements and market demands. Every addition to the original configuration required planning and integration to avoid interruption of the production process. Some of the modifications weren't anticipated when the original equipment was installed but occurred as a result of changing market focus.
