JDF & automation event double header kick off mid-June

Press release from the issuing company

Two important automation events in Toronto, ON have been scheduled back to back in order to maximize their educational value. The PIA/CIP4 and Ryerson University/CIP4 events both present a rare opportunity for printers to learn about the future of the industry, as well as exchange ideas and share the challenges and benefits of implementing a JDF workflow. Together they provide an in depth overview of the advantages that an automated JDF workflow can provide.

Representatives from the HIFLEX Corporation of North America will be attending to answer any questions specific to the HIFLEX JDF workflow as it is seen at Ampersand Printing during the first event, or in the hands-on session during the second. These industry summits allow you to discuss automation in a private setting with peers who understand the concepts and can share their personal experiences. The details for these two meetings are as follows:

PIA/CIP4 Automation Solutions Network Event
- When: Tuesday, June 15th – Wednesday, June16th 2010
- Where: Toronto, Ontario

Printing Industries of America and the International Cooperation for the Integration of Processes in Prepress, Press and Post Press (CIP4) Organization will host an Automation Solutions Network Event in Toronto, ON. This session on the advantages of JDF will take place on June 15th and 16th, and feature discussions with industry leaders and experts on automation, as well as a tour of Ampersand Printing--the multiple CIP4 CIPPI-award-winner and implementer of a streamlined HIFLEX JDF workflow.

The Automation Solutions Network Event brings together users and vendors of automation to create a forum where newcomers to the concept of JDF can find answers to their questions, while veteran users can share ideas and experiences with their peers. This meeting will provide the opportunity to learn how automation can increase your bottom line, amplify ROI, improve your productivity, and streamline the entire production process. Business owners, C-level management, and anyone interested in the power of automation should attend.

Participants will have the opportunity to tour Ampersand Printing, the 2009 CIP4 CIPPI award winner for „Best Process Automation Implementation--North America". As visitors explore Ampersand's state-of-the-art facility, they'll learn how the Canadian printer has increased efficiency and attained tangible results with JDF automation. Mike McDonald, President of Ampersand Printing, summarized the benefits of the newest addition to their JDF workflow: „The HIFLEX JDF data slips right through to our new Mitsubishi press, allowing our operators to achieve amazing make-ready times. We have been able to accomplish times as low as 6 minutes under the right conditions. This is an amazing accomplishment compared to our old press, sometimes saving an entire hour of preparation. None of this would be possible without the HIFLEX MIS System and its JDF data. The assistance provided by the JDF information basically functions as an additional member of the press crew."

Ampersand's process improvements have yielded results that include such a profound increase in workflow efficiency that they are now able to complete the same amount of work in one shift, which they had traditionally done in two. See how Ampersand has accomplished this and more, resulting in a 1815.8% ROI for integrating the HIFLEX MIS into prepress and post press processes and a 6121.5% ROI for integrating into a JDF capable press, both achieved within five years of their respective implementations.

The Automation Solutions Network Event was designed to show printers the advantages of JDF and help improve the processes of any company that is willing to take the next evolutionary step in workflow. Printers on the fence about automation will come away from this event inspired and excited to begin the implementation process, while those who have already achieved a level of integration will learn valuable tips and tricks to become even more efficient. PIA has reduced the price of this Toronto meeting to $195, so be sure to take advantage of the ROI that just attending this event can offer. To register or to get more information, please contact E.
