Experts Release Online, Real-Time Custom Folding Template Service
Press release from the issuing company
REISTERSTOWN, Md (August 24, 2003) -- Finishing Experts Group, publishers of FOLD: The Professional's Guide to Folding, are pleased to announce the release of FOLDfactory.com, an innovative, Web-based custom folding template service.
FOLDfactory.com is based upon FOLDRite, the first-of-its-kind folding system of naming and numbering conventions and folding compensation formulas that was introduced last year in the two-volume book FOLD: The Professional's Guide to Folding. FOLDfactory.com, designed to work seamlessly with the Guide, allows graphic arts professionals Web access to the FOLDRite system. Subscribers to FOLDfactory.com can choose a folding style from the Guide, go to the Web site and build a ready-to-use custom QuarkXPress or Adobe InDesign template on-demand. Geared toward graphic designers and digital prepress departments, FOLDfactory.com takes the time and uncertainty out of digital document
set-up for folded brochures.
How FOLDfactory works: Subscribers choose a folding style from the Guide. Next, they login to www.FOLDfactory.com. Then they start a simple four-step process which involves indicating the preferred folding style, entering in the desired finished size, choosing QuarkXPress or Adobe InDesign, and providing a few other specific settings based on user preference. There are helpful resources throughout the site to assist with questions that may arise. Within seconds, a ready-to-use, fully compensated Quark or Adobe InDesign template with clearly labeled fold marks and other helpful indicators is ready for download.
“After we published the folding guide, we identified a significant demand for a dynamic digital application of the FOLDRite system. A custom service over the Web was the perfect solution,” states Trish Witkowski, co-creator of FOLDfactory.com and author of FOLD: The Professional's Guide to Folding.
Those interested in trying out FOLDfactory can build a free custom template online at FOLDfactory.com., where they also can find information regarding FOLDfactory subscriptions, the FOLDfactory product in general, as well as details on purchasing FOLD: the Professional's Guide to Folding and Guide/FOLDfactory “bundle packages.”
“Through this Web-based, digital offering, we can help users to save time and reduce the margin of error in their workflow,” continues Witkowski. “We can now offer our customers a complete product—a comprehensive reference guide and a custom template service that makes the whole process easier and faster. It’s a seamless system, and one that we’re very excited about.”
