Heidelberg and more than 200 customers celebrate Digital Print Media Center opening
Press release from the issuing company
ROCHESTER, N.Y. Aug. 22, 2003 — Heidelberg and more than 200 of its customers recently celebrated the opening of the company's new Print Media Center at its digital world headquarters in Rochester, N.Y. The event was held last week in conjunction with the PGA Championship golf tournament.
The Print Media Center enables customers and prospective customers to see firsthand the company's entire digital solutions portfolio. This more than 4,000 square-foot facility showcases the Digimaster product family for high-volume digital black-and-white printing and the NexPress 2100 digital production color press, along with state-of-the-art digital workflow software and digital finishing solutions — such as the Probinder for flexible wire comb binding.
Visitors to the Print Media Center opening had the opportunity to see live product demonstrations, learn about new digital printing applications, tour the company’s digital manufacturing operations and research labs, and meet with company executives. One demonstration of particular interest was on-demand book publishing using the Digimaster 9150i print system, featuring color covers printed on the NexPress 2100
press.
"The completion of the Print Media Center is one of the last phases of our new digital headquarters," said Mark Weber, executive vice president, solution and partner management, Heidelberg’s Digital Print Solution Center. "This center is a permanent showcase of our world-class digital black-and-white and digital color solutions. It enables us to have ongoing discussions with customers from around the world about our portfolio and how we can best meet their needs now and in the future."
Weber noted that customers benefited immensely from the event, by being exposed to creative ideas on how to grow their print businesses in the future. "The behind-the-scenes look at our manufacturing and research facilities, in particular, gave customers a renewed appreciation for Heidelberg’s commitment to digital printing innovation and quality," Weber added.
1:1 marketing demonstration
Visitors to the Print Media Center opening also participated in a hands-on demonstration that showed how customer targeting can be used productively in one-to-one marketing. The demonstration highlighted Heidelberg’s ability to cover the entire value-added chain of digital printing — from the input of data, to printing and finishing.
Using a personal computer, customers could select the features of their dream Audi TT Roadster, along with information about favorite recreational activities. A customized four-color brochure, including the selected car configuration, was then printed on the NexPress 2100 press.
"During the Audi demonstration, we produced color brochures that not only reveal the beauty of the Audi TT Roadster, but highlight the dynamic application of customized printing made possible by our NexPress 2100 press," Weber added.
