Press release from the issuing company
London, UK - EuroSmartz, the Apple iPad & iPhone application development company, today announced that hot on the heels of the release of the PrintCentral app two weeks ago, version 1.2 of the app contains major enhancements to the way users can handle documents both from within PrintCentral as well as from other apps.
PrintCentral version 1.2 will now enable customers to directly open a document, spreadsheet or presentation that is stored in the "Files" section of PrintCentral with iWorks and start editing it immediately, this is as simple as selecting the stored file and then choosing Open in... Pages, Numbers or Keynote.
PrintCentral can also be used to open and print attachments in the Apple Mail app by simply tapping and holding on the item and choosing Open in... PrintCentral. This means that any customer with PrintCentral installed will be able to print an attachment directly from the Mail app in just three taps! If a customer wishes to print an iWorks document once it has been edited they can simply email to the Apple Mail app and print it as an attachment.
Printing from other apps:
PrintCentral leverages the application file sharing features built into the iPad and has become the pivotal app for printing from other apps. If other apps use the file sharing feature, their customers will be able to open & print items directly in PrintCentral with only three taps!
Cloud Storage:
PrintCentral can directly open files in iWorks that are stored in the cloud without having to download them first. This means that any customers that have documents or templates stored on an FTP server, iDisk or any WebDAV compatible service can go to the "Places" section of PrintCentral, open the file in iWorks, edit it and send it to a customer all with a few taps. This is completely new and unique functionality that is not currently available to iWorks customers.
Martin Schenkel, Product Development Director at EuroSmartz comments: "We are continuing to push the boundaries of what is possible on the iPad as a business tool. Document printing from these devices to any Mac or PC printer is not a simple matter, and requires a lot of background work to retain formatting and layout. With PrintCentral 1.2 and our unique architecture we can ensure a customer can quickly and easily print in the same format as the document was created."
