Hybrid performance major factor for Goldenstar de Mexico

Press release from the issuing company

Woodridge, IL - TENSOR GROUP, INC., a premier U.S. manufacturer of web offset press equipment, recently commissioned a new two tower, one folder newspaper / semi-commercial pressline at Goldenstar de Mexico in Culiacan, Sinaloa.

Production versatility and exemplary hybrid performance were major factors for Goldenstar, which specified the highly automated TENSOR T-400BE press with an H-50 folder for newspaper and high quality insert and magazine printing. The specialized, 40" wide press is equipped with two Prime UV systems to cure super-calendared stock webs on each tower. Uniquely designed Jardis ribbon decks positioned above the folder can slit each web into two halves and re-align the ribbons on press center prior to former folding. The ribbon decks also facilitate production of a 6-page broadsheet or a 12-page tabloid product from each web and have the capability to slit the web into thirds, bypassing the former for tabloid production.

The T-400BE TENSOR press units are heavily loaded for 40,000 cph speed, with components to ensure print accuracy at high speed. The DRCS automatic register guidance and cutoff system is controlled at the Swedish-manufactured DCOS press console. Water cooled vibrator rollers and oil cooling systems on the gears of the printing units facilitate continuous high speed production. Jardis FSS zero-speed splicers feed the two press towers.

The TENSOR H-50 folder has cross and ring perforation capabilities and is designed to incorporate a future stitcher. The folder is accompanied by a quarter folder for specialty advertisement jobs.

Goldenstar de Mexico is considered by many to be the #1 commercial printing and converting firm in the northwest of Mexico. Main concentration had always been in continuous business forms, POS rolls and labels. The purchase of the TENSOR web press considerably boosts Goldenstar's capabilities by diversifying into four-color, UV cured supermarket and department store advertising inserts and newspaper work. Goldenstar's operations manager said, "Our customers will be very satisfied with the quality the TENSOR press has given us."
