Union Technology International (MCO) Co. Ltd. (UTec) proudly announces that its manufacturing partner, Print-Rite Unicorn Image Products Co. Ltd. of Zhuhai ("Print-Rite Unicorn"), has received China Environmental Labeling certification for its remanufactured toner cartridges. Now, over 150 UTec remanufactured cartridges are certified to carry the prestigious label. China Environmental Labeling allows consumers to easily recognize products that provide environmental and health advantages and provides consumers with added assurances that they are buying remanufactured toner cartridges that are truly "green."

"Adding remanufactured toner cartridges with China Environmental Labeling to our portfolio allows us to differentiate our products in the market from the competition's less environmentally-friendly cartridges," says UTec general manager Iris Ngo. "UTec is recognized for its longstanding commitment to marketing quality products with superior performance that are also safe to use and environmentally sound," she says. "This tradition goes back many years. Our manufacturing partner, Print-Rite Unicorn, was awarded ISO 9001 and 9002 quality management certification back in the 1990s and ISO 14001 certification for environmental management in 2000. More recently, remanufactured toner cartridges produced for customers  have been awarded the Blue Angel, Nordic Swan and Green-Mark labels and UTec's products are also compliant with the European REACH and RoHS initiatives."

Last year, China Environmental Labeling standards were adopted for remanufactured toner cartridges. The methods and procedures defined for China Environmental Labeling certification are based on ISO 14020 standards and are in accordance with other international environmental labeling programs such as Germany's Blue Angel certificate. As part of the certification process, Print-Rite Unicorn, which manufactures UTec's toner cartridges, passed rigorous on-site factory inspections as well as product testing and assessment. In total, 153 of Print-Rite's remanufactured toner cartridges are certified to wear China Environmental Labeling. The company retains its certification for three years, during which time it will participate in annual on-site inspections. Random samples of its products will also be purchased in the open market and tested to ensure compliance during the certification period.

Carrying China Environmental Labeling provides UTec products with distinct competitive advantages in the domestic Chinese market. Chinese governmental policies and procurement laws encourage the purchase and use of remanufactured toner cartridges that are compliant with China Environmental Labeling standards. With their various ISO certificates and other international eco-labels, UTec's products also stand out in markets outside of China. Around the world, UTec's third-party imaging supplies are favored by consumers who value high-quality, environmentally friendly products that perform as well as or better than OEM-branded cartridges and still cost much less.

In addition to remanufactured toner cartridges, UTec plans to offer other digital imaging supplies with China Environmental Labeling. A standard for remanufactured and compatible inkjet cartridges has been drafted and is now being reviewed by the Chinese government and industry participants such as Print-Rite Unicorn. A standard for ink is also under discussion and Print-Rite Unicorn has participated in its compilation. Print-Rite Unicorn's ink facility has passed the on-site inspection and ink samples have been sent to the certification center for testing. China Environmental Labeling for Print-Rite Unicorn's ink and cartridges is expected soon.
