Ringsted, Denmark - Glunz & Jensen announced today that it has signed an agreement with Singapore Press Holdings Ltd (SPH), through Agfa Graphics to upgrade the complete pre-press production at SPH Print Centre in Singapore. In the coming months, Glunz & Jensen will install 10 automated lines of Glunz & Jensen online CtP processors, punch/benders and central stacking systems, making SPH Print Centre one of the largest automated newspaper sites in the world.
"The conversion from CtF to CtP is a major step for us." said Mr. Anthony Cheng, Executive Vice President of Production at SPH. Central to the CtP system will be the Automated Sorting Station, which will be the largest station of any CtP system in the world. Our plate volume of nearly 1,800 plates in a peak production run presents a complex sorting challenge. Glunz & Jensen has offered us a simple yet effective solution to meet that challenge. We are also convinced of the long term support capability and commitment of Agfa and Glunz & Jensen."
"With 17 newspaper titles in 4 languages, SPH has one of the most complex operations in our industry. In addition, SPH's stringent requirements in terms of print quality and consistency are well?known," said Peter Jensen, Vice President, Global Sales at Glunz & Jensen. "Being selected by SPH and Agfa Graphics as their pre?press partner for the coming years is a real honor and strengthens Glunz & Jensen`s leading position in global newspaper automation solutions. Agfa will be delivering printing plates together with the latest technology in platesetting, and will also be responsible for the future service of the SPH Print Centre.
"Singapore Press Holdings is a world leader in the newspaper industry, and we are honored with their choice of a Glunz & Jensen and Agfa partnership. This deal is unprecedented in size and complexity and includes 236 pieces of equipment, an advanced sorting system and the latest information system. It is both a challenge, and pleasure to be working with a highly demanding and professional team from SPH. Together we will make the new SPH CtP system a showcase system for the industry." said Kent Deal, General Manager of Glunz & Jensen, Inc.
