Press release from the issuing company
The installation of a ROLAND 700 HiPrint with ROLAND InlineFoiler Prindor will give Hannapak's customers even more opportunity to develop shelf leaping packaging for their products. The ROLAND InlineFoiler Prindor, which is already proving to be very successful for manroland's customers in Europe, America, and Asia is the first of its kind installed in Australia.
Hannapak, established in 1957, is the largest privately owned paperboard-packaging manufacturer in Australia. The company based in North Richmond, New South Wales, has invested in a seven color ROLAND 700 HiPrint in 3B format with coating module and ROLAND InlineFoiler Prindor. Hannapak specialize in unique packaging solutions for their customers, which vary across the industries of beverage, food, confectionery, cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and household products.
The company is always looking to provide a creative edge for their customers. Sam Hanna, Sales & Marketing Director of Hannapak, explains: "For many years we have been successful with manroland technology, we are careful to choose the very best solutions for our business and our customers. This latest investment with its inline print enhancement not only expands our product portfolio but it also increases our added value offering to our customers." Steve Dunwell, Managing Director of manroland Australasia, declares: "With their strategy Hannapak takes advantage of the Value Added Printing philosophy of manroland, which includes production efficiency to produce faster and product value, to produce better and different."
Highlights of the ROLAND 700 HiPrint are the ROLAND InlineFoiler Prindor, ColorPilot, and TelePresence to increase product value. QuickChange options, automatic plate changing with APL, ROLAND InlineInspector, ROLAND InlineSorter, and the logistic system AUPASYS are standing for production efficiency.
Brilliant technology to increase product value
Packaging, labels, commercial printing jobs – all can be further enhanced with the ROLAND InlineFoiler Prindor through inline overprinting of the metallic images in the printing units downstream of the unit where the foil is applied. Additional costs for expensive embossing forms, as with the hot-foil process, are eliminated, as are additional outside production steps. The order can be delivered sooner, changeover requires only a few manual operations.
Hannapak commits a quality assurance to their customers. The packaging printer holds ISO certification AS/NZS ISO 9001:2000 and with its investment in the ROLAND 700 HiPrint it strengthens its quality production. To minimize wasted sheets from the beginning on, the ColorPilot measurement and regulation system is in use. The system uses densitometry to measure print control strips, which can be located at the sheet front or tail edge at a speed of 25 cm per second. In both solid and screen patches it records eight measurement values per millimeter.
Regarding preventative maintenance and fast remote and fault diagnosis, Hannapak confides in TelePresence, manroland's innovative service portal that links the printer, service technician, and printing system. Should a press not be working perfectly or the printer is faced with an unknown problem, he can send a service request via TelePresence to the specialists in the TeleSupportCenter. The MaintenanceManager software module is integrated in TelePresence for condition-oriented and efficient maintenance management.
Automation to increase production efficiency
Economical success is supposed by printing products produced efficiently. The QuickChange options increase printing capacity by up to 30 percent.
- QuickChange Job automates the operating steps required for job changeover.
- QuickChange Wash cares for shorter wash-up times. Separate washing agent circuits simplify switching from conventional inks to UV inks.
- QuickChange Coating enables the press to be changed from UV to dispersion coating in only 15 minutes.
APL (Automated Plate Loading) not only makes plate changing faster but also fully automatic at the press of a button. While the plates are being changed automatically, the printer can attend to loading new piles or preparing the press for the next job. The ROLAND 700 HiPrint at Hannapak is configured with the sheet inspection system ROLAND InlineInspector and the ROLAND InlineSorter waste sheet diverting system, which are reducing substrate waste and secure quality.
Industrial-scale printing production is not possible without optimized materials flow. Especially in packaging printing, the attainable high sheetfed press speeds, at Hannapak's ROLAND 700 HiPrint 17,000 sheets/hour, cannot be fully utilized without materials logistics. manroland recognized this need early on and developed AUPASYS, the world's leading automated pallet transport system. The result is increased net production output combined with less waste.
