Press release from the issuing company
Graphispag, (Barcelona), 22.2.07. - The Graphics Industry is starting a new race to update its systems with the addition of JDF, the new standard for work flow. IPA, CIP4 and Tajamar Graphic and Technological Institute (ITGT in its Spanish acronym) want to bring this technological advance to the Spanish-speaking world and have started the program "JDF expert official certification". This program has been presented this week in Graphispag, the Industry and Graphic Communication International Fair, which is taking place in the Barcelona Fair Halls, and next week will be presented in Miami, as part of the "Graphics of Americas" International Fair.
JDF -Job Definition Format- is set to become the graphic industry standard for the definition and follow-up of works. According to Aurelio Mendichuguía, Technical Director of ITGT, "this new format contains every management and production expense, updating in real-time the information on each job to print, and this way one gets greater control over the parameters of each component in the work flow".
In this way, JDF manages to automate these processes reducing thus performance time and reduction volumes, with the subsequent savings and, above all, a considerable increase in the reliability of final results: From the moment the customer requests an estimate until the delivery of the product and the issue of the receipt.
JDF, developed by CIP4, is based on the XML programming language (a powerful description method used for complex data structures), and is being adopted as the universal communications platform in the field of graphic process, increasing the efficiency and productivity of firms. Moreover, JDF has the special feature of being a totally open and compatible system, so that in the future there will be constant updates, extensions and improvements of its applications, guaranteeing a total interaction between devices, programmes and processes from diverse makers.
The director of this program, David Rodríguez Borlado, points out that "the program JDF Expert official certification is conceived to educate in the standard every professional that takes part in the evaluation, running or management of the work flow in the Graphic Industry and in the use of physical devices and software related to theses processes". This includes Directors of Productions, people in charge of IT and communication systems, Directors of Technology and technicians in the areas of printing, pre-printing and post-printing processes and devices.
The program is to be developed in an "on-line" environment, with the methodology of Interactive Seminars IPA (Webinars), and does not require the physical presence of the participant, since the whole program can be carried out through the Institute's web page (www.itgt.es). CIP4, IPA and the ITGT will present those who pass the Program's End Test with the JDF Expert official Certificate.
