Four Domtar Paper Mills Achieve FSC Certification

Press release from the issuing company

Domtar Corporation announced today that it has achieved Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Chain-of-Custody certification at four more of its paper mills. Its coated groundwood mill in Columbus, MS, and uncoated freesheet mills in Hawesville, KY, Kingsport, TN, and Marlboro (Bennettsville), SC are now FSC-certified.

The number of FSC-certified Domtar sites now exceeds 40, and includes 11 paper mills, three market pulp mills, 14 off-site converting operations, and regional replenishment centers located across its North American manufacturing footprint. Chain-of-Custody certification is a rigorous tracking system that identifies the origin of fiber used in certified products under FSC.

"The addition of these four paper operations to our FSC-certified network will enable us to expand our Domtar EarthChoice(R) line of environmentally and socially responsible paper products and bring us closer to our customers across North America," said Lewis Fix, Senior Director, Business Development at Domtar.

Over a decade ago, Domtar made FSC certification an integral part of its sustainability strategy. Today Domtar is a recognized leader in sustainable growth in the pulp and paper industry. This latest achievement further demonstrates Domtar's commitment to responsible paper production and fiber sourcing, as well as the expansion of its EarthChoice product line. It is for these reasons that Domtar has earned the support of leading environmental organizations such as WWF (World Wildlife Fund) - Canada and Rainforest Alliance.
