Miami Beach, Florida– March 2, 2007 -- Intermarket Corp, one of the leading master distributors for the graphic arts industry in Latin America, today announced that it will celebrate its 20th anniversary at Graphics of the Americas, March 2-4, 2007 at the Miami Beach Convention Center. With humble beginnings that began in the home of its founder, Manuel Alvarez, Intermarket has grown into a double-digit, multi-million dollar operation. Intermarket started twenty years ago in a kitchen, which provided ready access to the coffee needed to stay awake during the long hours of starting the business. From the beginning, Intermarket’s goal was meeting their customer’s requirements. Their marketplace was Latin America and the Caribbean, a vast region of over 25 markets, more than 40,000 printers, different time zones and areas difficult to access. They faced and overcame challenges with delivery, credit and payment policies to establish themselves as one of the leading suppliers to this region. Du Pont was first to see the benefit a company like Intermarket could provide and appointed the fledgling enterprise as an Imaging Systems Master Distributor for Latin America except for a few countries were they maintained subsidiaries. The Master Distributor concept was new in the printing world. It was a good but complex business where personal contacts with the end-user were paramount to success, all responsibilities resting with the distributor. Intermarket appointed dealers and agents and supplied consumables, technology, and technical service to the region. The principal in return honored the exclusivity commitment and both grew and were successful. Because the graphic industries uses hundreds of products beside mainstay consumables, some in large quantities others by the piece, it became necessary for Intermarket to grow into a complete solution provider to the industry in order to satisfy its growing clientele. After a short time, the company formed Printmat, specializing in general supplies and ancillary equipment sales. Today the company operates under Intermarket / Printmat name and has grown into a double digit, multi-million dollar business, with major focus on the Latin American packaging and proofing markets that today that has a tremendous potential for digital products. The founder and owner of Intermarket / Printmat, Manuel Alvarez, himself a 33-year Dupont veteran before he opened Intermarket in Miami has been a successful marketing pioneer in the region. Along with his daughter Patricia and a staff of experienced marketing and sales personnel to support him, Intermarket’s dealers in the region enjoy the reputation of being the most reliable suppliers to the industry. They accomplish this with the total support of the master distributor Intermarket/Printmat.
