Arctic Paper S.A. has announced that its mills at Munkedal and Kostrzyn have both been awarded environmental certification in accordance with the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) schemes.
The fact that both mills have now successfully attained PEFC accreditation means that Arctic Paper can now offer a broader range of environmentally-certified products.
PEFC is one of the world’s largest systems for the certification and labeling of wood and paper products, and guarantees that the pulp comes from sustainable and ecologically sound forestry.
The certification covers all the paper qualities produced at both Munkedal and Kostrzyn.
Arctic Paper’s Munken and Amber products already hold environmental certification from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
The Munkedal mill in Sweden is now one of the most environmentally friendly paper mills in the world. It has an on site Environmental Centre which is unique in its field, and utilises the water that comes out of the mill which is so clean visitors can drink it.
Arctic Paper Kostrzyn S.A. is the largest manufacturer of offset papers in Poland and the second largest manufacturer of graphical papers, sold under the Amber brand for offset and preprint use. The mill manufactures high quality uncoated, woodfree paper.
Arctic Paper has been working since 2003 to FSC certify its coated and uncoated products, and so far all its standard qualities of Amber, Arctic, Munken, and Pamo are available as FSC certified.
