Greening the Document Center is a new online class announced today by Print/Mail Consultants, the consulting firm that specializes in serving the needs of organizations that produce high volumes of documents by advising clients on all portions of the document workflow.
 
The environmental suggestions included in Greening the Document Center are limited to those areas that are reasonably under the control or influence of a document center manager. “We don’t go into areas like facilities management”, says company president Mike Porter, “There are plenty of programs that can address those things. What was missing was a comprehensive set of strategies that can be applied to the documents and the production processes themselves.”
 
The audio content of the six-part course is augmented by study guides and exercises. When all the sessions are finished, document center managers or staffers should have adequate data to identify the best opportunities for making environmental improvements in their own operations. The completed exercises help to establish the documentation required for securing project approvals.
 
Greening the Document Center is delivered online in six parts. This allows participants to get the information they need without spending travel dollars or taking a great deal of time away from work. Print/Mail Consultants offers the course directly to individuals in document center operations. Hardware, software, supplies, or services vendors have the option to purchase blocks of registrations that can be allocated to clients or in-house staff, and additional customized packages can be arranged for vendors.
 
“There isn’t a lot of educational material that has been developed for the document operations folks”, says Porter, “And the ability to send employees to training sessions at trade shows just isn’t an option for a lot of shops. That’s why we created this course and the book Take This Job and Stuff It! We wanted to find an affordable way to provide industry education that is accessible to anyone.”
