Sussex, WI -- El Comercio, the largest newspaper in Peru, has chosen to install QuadTech's ICON integrated platform to increase overall efficiency and reduce waste. As the world's preeminent designer and manufacturer of automated print controls, QuadTech is pleased to contribute to the continuing success of the Lima-based newspaper.
With a circulation of over 120,000 issues daily, El Comercio is installing the advanced technology on a manroland 48-page Lithoman press, to automate and meet the higher quality demands of its commercial customers. QuadTech's network-based ICON platform allows operation of automated press controls from a single, centralized station. El Comercio's installation will include QuadTech's Color Control System, Register Guidance System with MultiCam, and Ribbon Control System with MultiCam.
"The group El Comercio, publisher of the newspaper titles El Comercio, Trome, Perú.21, Gestión y Depor, with a market share of 65% in readership between all its products, made the decision to acquire a new manroland 48-pg Lithoman web press for our commercial plant-where magazines, books and inserts are printed in high quality paper substrates-with the aim of doubling our current production which reaches 20,000 tons of paper per year due to the growing demand for our products," said Mr. Ignacio Prado, Plant Manager for El Comercio.
"Since our existing Heidelberg M600 presses came with QuadTech auxiliaries that had performed very well, we decided to once again go with QuadTech for color and cutoff/sidelay register, plus in-line ink density control for this new press-whose speed and production capacity are greater than our current presses, and therefore require auxiliaries capable of adapting to the requirements of this new technology."
Karl Fritchen, President of QuadTech said, "At QuadTech, we understand the demands of the newspaper industry and the need to increase efficiency, improve quality, reduce waste, and increase profits. By partnering with us, El Comercio is giving itself a large competitive edge."
