New KODAK NEXPRESS SE Digital Production Color Platform Announced
Press release from the issuing company
CHICAGO -- Kodak's new NEXPRESS SE Platform delivers the best digital color production on the market for commercial, photo, and in-plant printers. Building upon the proven reputation of the NEXPRESS family of products, the KODAK NEXPRESS SE Platform of Digital Production Color Presses delivers the next generation in color quality, performance, and reliability. The SE Platform also enables significant gains in business productivity, profitability, and growth.
Available now, the first product in the SE Platform is the KODAK NEXPRESS SE3600 Digital Production Color Press, the only sheetfed digital production color press to offer unconstrained 3600 A3+ sheets per hour, 120 ppm performance. Combined with KODAK INSITE Campaign Manager and KODAK PRINERGY Workflow System, printers can further enhance their productivity and efficiency and deliver higher value, targeted communications to their clients.
"The NEXPRESS SE Platform represents a technology breakthrough in digital printing, with unrivaled flexibility, productivity and image quality," said Kevin Joyce, Worldwide Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Digital Printing Solutions, Kodak. "This is a game-changing digital press that outpaces the competition and leverages new Kodak innovations in image quality, dry inks, and software to deliver superior offset class output."
One of the most significant innovations of the SE Platform is the new KODAK NEXPRESS Intelligent Calibration System (ICS), which ensures the highest quality output possible. This unique solution allows the press operator to automate the process of ensuring uniformity of printed output. This automated process takes less than five minutes and is an integral part of the image quality enhancements delivered in the NEXPRESS SE Platform. This innovative system uses a KODAK i1220 ICS Scanner to capture and analyze color output and feed critical data back to the system for closed-loop color calibration. ICS also comprises an easy-to-use software application that sits directly on the digital front end of the press, giving customers greater uptime and the ability to run a wider range of demanding jobs.
A second noteworthy materials science innovation is the KODAK NEXPRESS Enhanced Dry Ink and KODAK NEXPRESS Developer, a new formulation of ink and developer designed to improve image quality by delivering offset class smooth flat tints, and print consistency across jobs and over time. It also features 25 percent more ink per bottle, reducing bottle waste and time to reload ink. To complement the Enhanced Dry Inks, hardware modifications in the imaging modules improve output smoothness, consistency, and uniformity.
The third significant and unique technology breakthrough is the KODAK NEXPRESS Front End System Software version 11, the first front end in the market with ADOBE PDF print engine 2.0 for higher productivity and seamless workflow integration. From compatibility with the latest PDF standards to seamless integration when implementing variable data printing (VDP) capabilities, the Front End System Software improves file processing significantly.
"The new NEXPRESS SE Platform enables print service providers to create high-value, unique applications that help to differentiate themselves in the marketplace," added Joyce. "This is about driving new revenue opportunities for our customers and increasing their client's return on marketing investment."
The NEXPRESS SE Platform also boasts more environmentally friendly attributes such as recyclable components, parts and packaging, deinkable output, and dry inks that emit no volatile organic compounds.
For current NEXPRESS Press customers utilizing previous models, Kodak offers an SE Platform upgrade path that allows customers to leverage existing investments. NEXPRESS Presses are upgradeable to SE Platform capabilities and most can also be upgraded to 120 ppm for maximum productivity.
The NEXPRESS SE Platform continues to offer powerful KODAK Fifth Imaging Unit Solutions, allowing users to add a wide array of unique features inline during the printing process. For example, the KODAK NEXPRESS Intelligent Dimensional Coating Solution and KODAK NEXPRESS Dimensional Clear Dry Ink combine to give specified text and images a raised or 3D effect that can help communications stand out in a crowded marketplace. Furthermore, users can add value to the final print product with clear coating, watermarking, glossing, protection coating, and MICR.
KODAK INSITE Campaign Manager and PRINERGY Workflow System provide connectivity to KODAK NEXPRESS Digital Production Color Presses. PRINERGY Digital Workflow helps commercial and data printers drive automation throughout digital workflows with universal digital press connectivity, intelligent job management and scheduling tools with industry-leading automation.
