CEM Announces Modules For Digitally Printed Book

Press release from the issuing company

Minneapolis, Minnesota:  CEM S.p.A. a long-time supplier of document converting systems to Bowe Bell + Howell and other major manufacturers announced the availability of their Docuconverter and Book-Of-One modules for the fast-growing digitally printed book and document market.

The Docuconverter and Book-Of-One are designed to integrate with a variety of high-speed cut-sheet digital printers in order to convert 11” x 17”, 12” x 18” (A3), or larger sheets into bindery-ready book or document sets.  For 8 ½” x 11” formats, each sheet is converted into four pages, and for 6” x 9” and 8 1.2” x 5 ½”, into eight pages.  The Docuconverter can continuously stack book blocks onto a receiving stacker – conveyor (up to 12” worth of output).  The Book-Of-One will deliver one complete book at a time.  Stacked sets are ready for binding, either adhesive or mechanical.

Both systems eliminate labor-intensive manual cutting of large sheets needed to convert the work into bindery-ready output.  In addition, imposing the work on the largest sheet size reduces printer “click” charges.  Both machines use a DFA Type-1 printer interface, and can be had in either in-line, or off-line versions.  The off-line systems use a high-speed sheet pile feeder, and can handle the output from several cut-sheet printers.  Recent studies show the “on demand” digital print sector for book and manual production growing at astounding rates.  The Docuconverter and Book-Of-One will help digital printers capture their share of this growth sector.
