Brilliant Graphics Wins in Neographics Competition
Press release from the issuing company
Exton, Pa. -- Brilliant Graphics has won the coveted Power of Print award for the booklet, “Access Dubai,” in this year’s Neographics competition. Neographics is one of the largest regional graphic arts contests in the United States.
The Exton printer also won First Runner Up for its own 2009 wall calendar “That’s Brilliant.” Designed by Katharine Williams, the calendar features the landscape photography of H. Mark Weidman of West Chester, Pa.
“We haven’t had one company win the top two prizes in recent memory,” said Margaret Baumhauer, president of the Graphic Arts Association, which sponsors the event. “It’s rare that one company even has two of the top five winners, but Brilliant also received seven Best of Category Awards and 24 Franklin Awards for Excellence.”
Brilliant’s Best of Category awards showcased the versatility of its fine custom printing. It won Best of Category for case bound books with “The Art and Colour of General Motors,” by Philadelphia photographer Michael Furman; for magazines with the School of Visual Art’s “Dear Dave”; and for posters with a series of four quadtone posters by legendary photographer Paul Caponigro.
Brilliant also won Best of Category for the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation annual report, “In pursuit of sustainability,” by Unetic Design, and the brochure “Los Altos,” designed by Partners Design. Brilliant’s Giclée printmaking earned Best of Category in large format digital printing for Martha Madigan’s Flower Show banners and in digital printing – hybrid for a boxed series of cards featuring work in the American Society of Media Photographer’s Focus Philadelphia exhibit.
“Winning the top two awards and all of these Best of Category and Excellence awards is testimony to our clients’ ability to consistently produce strong creative work and our incredible staff’s technical prowess and commitment to excellence,” said Brilliant CEO Bob Tursack Jr.
Neographics entries are sent to more than 6,000 firms in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. The competition recognizes excellence in graphic arts, packaging, converting, design and publishing. The awards exhibition and ceremony was held in Philadelphia on Thursday, May 7, 2009, at the Union League.
