ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill. - At Print '09, Screen (USA), a leading supplier of integrated workflow applications that is dedicated to creating a future in print, will show how bright the future can be for printing companies implementing Screen workflow solutions. To that end, Screen (USA) will demonstrate the EQUIOS-Pre4m workflow concept with the newest version of Screen Trueflow SE.
Screen's research and development efforts in recent years have focused on creating the ultimate end-to-end workflow. What is end-to-end automation? An efficient and error-free process that makes overall print production function at its best and brings benefits to printers and their clients - from job quote and incoming digital files through finishing and delivery. The guiding principle is the integration of Screen equipment and software with as wide a range of complementary third-party technology as possible.
EQUIOS-Pre4m embodies this integration. EQUIOS-Pre4m, with Screen's Trueflow SE PDF- and JDF-based workflow management system at its core, accelerates end-to-end automation for press and postpress. It empowers printers to achieve the greatest possible value from an efficient production process.
The Screen (USA) booth at Print '09 will include special demonstration areas where visitors can discover the latest breakthroughs in automation for hybrid offset/digital print workflows, remote proofing, web-to-print, color quality, postpress operations and print shop management. Screen software application specialists will explain the new EQUIOSNET partnership program. A workflow collaboration scheme with reliable partner vendors, the EQUIOSNET partnership program ensures overall benefit.
Trueflow SE ver. 7.0
Trueflow SE ver. 7.0 provides flexible and highly automated computer-to-plate and digital print production using JDF-based job tickets. Trueflow SE ver. 7.0 integrates everything from the automated handling of incoming jobs to prepress production, proofing and output to different digital devices. Key enhancements with Trueflow SE ver. 7.0 include a new optimized imposition solution.
In a hybrid workflow, where data is sent to the appropriate device according to the number of copies required, ensuring smooth management of data just before printing is as important as maintaining quality. With Trueflow SE ver. 7.0, data and process management are unified under a single system, immediately before printing begins. Responding to changes - even last-minute changes in the number of copies required - has never been easier.
Trueflow SE ver. 7.0 offers improved integration with third-party production systems, making it possible to build an advanced automated workflow that encompasses the entire print production workflow. In an EQUIOS-Pre4m workflow, Trueflow SE ver. 7.0 can convey folding and cutting information to postpress as JDF files. Job specifications can be shared with a JDF-enabled management information system (MIS) via Ritecontrol SE.
Visitors to the Screen (USA) booth will be able to evaluate other production-enhancing applications, including:
* Riteapprove SE: An easy-to-use, online job submission, remote proofing and approval solution for Trueflow SE. Using the web browser from any computer, customers can communicate their job requirements directly into the production environment. A customizable job specification is assigned to each job published on Riteapprove SE to provide a custom online job ticket form, as well as processing instructions. Based on the job specification, Riteapprove SE seamlessly integrates with Trueflow SE to create a new job entry, deliver PDF files and provide an online proof for remote approval.
* Ritecontrol SE: A prepress manager solution and a key module for users wishing to integrate a complete JDF system. Ritecontrol SE has the ability to communicate with other JDF-managed systems, like press, postpress and shipping, and automatically feed back results to an MIS. Ritecontrol SE offers administration and control in a multiple Trueflow SE environment for load balancing.
* PDF Trapeditor: A plug-in for Adobe Acrobat Professional that enables interactive trapping to define detailed settings. Trueflow SE's automated trapping functions include object trapping, overprinting, spot colors, kickback and more. In addition, PDF Trapeditor permits users to give individual traps and screening instructions for each object. Operators can set instructions and preview results in Acrobat at the same time, manipulating traps as desired.
* FlatWorker SE: A package and large-size plate imposition solution for Trueflow SE. In a packaging workflow, FlatWorker SE can input CAD data and apply graphic data as Outline PDF/Outline PDF advance format from Trueflow SE. FlatWorker SE supports all required package workflow functions, such as step and repeat, generating mask, adding printing accessories, numbering and output design outline for cut-off shape.
