Kodak's Unified Workflow Solutions deliver greater production efficiency

Press release from the issuing company

CHICAGO - The latest versions of KODAK Unified Workflow Solutions help to further simplify and automate complex production and color management processes for print service providers in digital and offset environments.

Kodak's Unified Workflow Solutions announcements at Print 09 include customer availability of KODAK PRINERGY Workflow System 5.1 and KODAK COLORFLOW Software 1.0, the launch of KODAK PREPS Imposition Software 6.0, and the introduction of KODAK INSITE Storefront System 6.0 for Kodak's Web to Print Solutions. Demonstrations of these and other KODAK Unified Workflow Solutions take place throughout each day at Kodak's booth, #6907.

"For many print service providers, the keys to greater revenue and profitability opportunities lie in continuously expanding their capabilities, moving into areas such as marketing services, and enhancing production efficiencies," said Jon Bracken, General Manager, Unified Workflow Solutions, Kodak. "Our latest Unified Workflow Solutions provide essential support in each of these areas."

PRINERGY Workflow System 5.1 and COLORFLOW Software
PRINERGY Workflow System 5.1 integrates COLORFLOW Software, simplifies production and increases automation. COLORFLOW Software helps ensure a reliable color match from original electronic files all the way through the production process to the final output on both digital and conventional presses. The combination of PRINERGY Workflow System and COLORFLOW Software creates a single workflow to manage all facets of a prepress job, providing color-accurate rendering of files regardless of output device or media.

"COLORFLOW Software allows us to offer fool-proof proofing," says Sejer Sejersen, President, Sejersen DPS, a full-service prepress business in San Diego. "We do a lot of work for catalogs, publications and other high-end materials where color is critical. In our dual workflow, the ability of COLORFLOW Software to automatically populate all templates with correct information throughout a job is essential to our ability to deliver reliable color matches."

KODAK PREPS Imposition Software 6.0
PREPS Imposition Software 6.0 helps reduce production costs from both labor and materials. New features in the latest version of PREPS Imposition Software include an improved, unified user interface with drag-and-drop functionality so users can more quickly create imposition plans, with or without ganging.

"We use PREPS Imposition Software to visually impose all of our files, whether for high-quantity printing on our sheetfed presses or digital printing of on-demand books," said Dan McInnis, Vice President, Progressive Printing Company. "PREPS Software Version 6.0 is more visually oriented and offers greater automation. This is very helpful, as we receive files for printing on-demand books from all over the country and automate our workflow with JDF."

Other additions in PREPS 6.0 Software include automated and manual ganging capabilities to reduce production costs, modules that provide information on how to use the software without the expense of formal training, and enhanced integration with PRINERGY Workflow to better support last-minute job changes and corrections.

"The redesign of PREPS Software demonstrates our commitment to deliver the best solutions for streamlining the prepress process," said Bracken. "With its new intuitive interface and the rich automation between PREPS Software and other KODAK Unified Workflow Solutions, we remain at the forefront of developing integrated solutions that save time and money."

Web-to-Print Solutions and INSITE Storefront System 6.0
The latest version of Kodak's Web-to-Print Solutions feature a more robust and comprehensive suite of software tools designed to help print service providers move more capabilities and services online. Kodak's Web-to-Print Solutions include INSITE Storefront System, PRINERGY Digital Workflow System, and KODAK DARWIN Software.

The newest version of INSITE Storefront System includes integrated variable data printing (VDP) capabilities for easily creating VDP templates that can be customized and ordered online. Other additions include the ability to accept print jobs in more file formats, an integrated print driver enables print orders to be supplied from virtually any application, integrated preflighting capabilities that deliver instant feedback on uploaded orders, and embeddable HTML catalogs that print buyers can edit to incorporate their branding messages.

"We continually expand and enhance our Web-to-Print Solutions to help customers take advantage of opportunities to grow their business through online sales, VDP capabilities and greater efficiencies," said Bracken. "By offering this online, automatic and collaborative solution, print service providers can help their customers better manage their print buying to reduce costs and waste, as well as save time with shorter turnaround cycles and distributed fulfillment options."
