PIA/GATF Analyzes Election Impact on Printing Industry's Advocacy Agenda

Press release from the issuing company

Washington, D.C., November 6, 2008 -- Riding a promise of change, President-elect Barack Obama and an expanded Democratic Congress were elected in a historic event that offers both challenges to, and opportunities for, America's printing industry. Get an inside look at Obama's legislative agenda and how it will impact printers at the January 27 webinar, What an Obama Administration & 111th Congress Means for Printers, presented by Printing Industries of America, Inc./Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (PIA/GATF).

The event will be hosted by Lisbeth Lyons, Vice President, Government Affairs, PIA/GATF, and will include a panel of legislative and advocacy experts.

The ninety-minute webinar will help printers understand the likely policy direction that President-elect Obama and the 111th Congress will be pursuing. The program will translate the impact of these policies on the concerns that have been identified as the "top action issues" by this year's survey of PIA/GATF members. A "who's who" of key players in the new Administration and Congress will also be examined.

PIA/GATF anticipates much legislative activity in the areas of employment benefits and labor issues, taxes, environmental concerns, and postal policy during the Obama Administration. The organization will be working with legislators and agencies to influence policies that promote the success of the printing industry and defend it from legislative harm.

Printing Industries of America, Inc. is the only Association that maintains a full-time lobbying and federal regulatory compliance staff to represent commercial printers.

The cost to attend the What an Obama Administration & 111th Congress Means for Printers webinar is $99 for PIA/GATF members and $199 for non-members. To register for this event, call 412-259-1716. For more information, call 412-259-1715 or email [email protected].
