(July 31, 2008) Job descriptions are an essential management tool for any business.  They are a guide for recruiting, interviewing, evaluating performance, setting company performance and safety standards, motivation, performance management, and regulatory compliance.  However, writing or updating job descriptions is no easy task, even for a Harvard MBA grad.  That’s why PIA/GATF collects various job descriptions from the printing industry and publishes them free to our members on GAIN. Not only are there 200 job descriptions available from receptionist, to press operator, to truck driver, (and almost everything in between) but members can benefit from seeing various types of styles and formats that their peers are using in the industry now. Plus, there is an article from the PIA/GATF Human Relations Department on who to write a job description along with a job analysis form.  PIA/GATF members can view the GAIN Job Description Database on GAIN.
