Marysville, OH -- July 25, 2008 -- Univenture, Inc. is pleased to announce it has won a Print Excellence and Knowledge (PEAK) Grand Award in a national competition sponsored by award-winning Print Solutions Magazine. A popular printing industry trade publication, Print Solutions Magazine is published by the Print Services & Distribution Association (PSDA) in Alexandria, VA.
The EcoEndure Kit, Univenture's Grand Award winning entry in the Commercial Printing –Kits category, was a mailing kit that included a variety of U-1000 and EnvyPak sleeves and mailers, and EcoEndure badge holders, made from Earthfirst PLA and biodegradable polypropylene. Included in the Kit was an informational piece on responding to the world's concerns about sustainability in packaging and outlining Univenture's capabilities with alternative eco-friendly materials.
"We are honored to win the Grand Award. Our creative products and variety of printing capabilities have allowed us to win PEAK Awards for three years," said Ross Youngs, CEO of Univenture and UniKeep. "Although many printing companies claim they have solutions for customers, it is gratifying when independent industry experts verify it by providing recognition through awards," added Youngs.
The contest, which drew more than 250 entries from North America and Europe, recognized the work of firms that add value to the print-related products and services they provide customers. The competition spotlights companies that not only meet customers' printing needs through creativity in design, manufacturing, fulfillment and other services, but also solve problems or improve business functions.
Print Solutions (www.printsolutionsmag.com) is an award-winning monthly with 13,000 subscribers who design, manufacture and distribute printed products of all kinds. PSDA (www.PSDA.org), the publisher of the magazine, is a not-for-profit trade association that has served printing sales professionals for more than 50 years with outstanding publications, trade expositions, education and more recently web services.
"Winning a PEAK Award signifies a sharp focus on solving customer problems or improving a customer's business," says Peter Colaianni, CAE, PSDA's executive vice president. "PEAK awards are won by companies that add value to the products they sell."
"While Univenture's entry was not in our new "green" category, it was one of the most eco-friendly entries in the entire competition and a real standout among all the commercial printing entries. Univenture's recyclable/biodegradable/compostable/renewable packaging caught the attention of all three judges," commented Brad Holt, Vice President of Publications and New Media for the Print Services & Distribution Association, which publishes Print Solutions Magazine.
The panel of industry experts who judged the contest included:
- John Leininger, professor in the Department of Graphic Communications at Clemson University.
- Joe Schwan, who held top executive positions at Wallace Computer Services and Standard Register until his retirement in 2001.
- Art Stowe, co-president of the Printing & Graphics Association, Mid-Atlantic (PGAMA), a regional affiliate of the Printing Industries of America serving Maryland, the greater Washington, D.C., area and southern Pennsylvania.
