Presstek Files Complaint in Germany Against VIM Technologies
Press release from the issuing company
Hudson, NH – May 21, 2008 – Presstek, Inc., the leading manufacturer and marketer of digital offset business solutions, today announced it had filed a Complaint with the Düsseldorf District Court in Germany against Israeli printing plate manufacturer VIM Technologies, Ltd.("VIM") for infringement of Presstek's patent rights.
In February 2008, the company filed a complaint with the United States International Trade Commission ("ITC") against VIM and several of its distributors and was successful in having the ITC initiate an investigation into Presstek's patent and trademark infringement claims. The company is seeking an Order from the ITC forbidding the importation and sale of the VIM printing plates.
In announcing its latest action against VIM, James R. Van Horn, the company's General Counsel and Secretary said, "Our intellectual property is a valuable asset and we will protect it. When we filed our ITC action against VIM earlier this year, we stated our intention to protect against the infringement of our patent rights wherever they were being violated. This action in Germany is focused on protecting our rights in Europe and seeking damages for VIM's improper conduct. This is simply our next step in the process of protecting our rights from VIM's infringement."
Presstek is the leading manufacturer and marketer of high tech digital imaging solutions to the graphic arts and laser imaging markets and owns hundreds of patents in the United States and worldwide covering its technology.
