Slovenian-based woodfree paper manufacturer Goricane has successfully attained Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) accreditation.
This means that the Goricane paper mill, one of the oldest paper mills in Slovenia, has been successfully audited for the environmental certification system, thereby achieving Chain of Custody (CoC) status.
The fact that Goricane has achieved accreditation to the FSC certification system means that the mill’s customers can be assured that any paper produced at the mill which bears the certification mark has been sourced from sustainable and well-managed forests.
Goricane can now offer paper products which have been produced using 50% recycled/50% FSC mixed sources pulp. However, any product enquiries need a minimum volume to allow for the De-Inked pulp (DIp) delivery and are subject to discussion with the Papico office.
The mill produces some 90,000 tonnes per annum of both woodfree matt coated and uncoated papers, around 90% of which are exported to countries such as Germany, Poland, UK, France, Austria and Italy, whilst some quantities are also exported to places such as Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro.
The Goricane mill’s products are particularly suited to both the publishing and direct mail markets, primarily for printing applications in both sheet-fed offset and web offset.
However, Goricane also produces lightweight uncoated opaque papers for the pharmaceutical leaflet market, with their wide substance range from 37gsm-150gsm covering most applications.
Its product ranges include grades such as; Sora Matt, Sora Matt Plus, Sora Light, Sora Medico and Sora Silico.
Goricane’s exclusive paper agent in the UK is Yorkshire-based agency Papico.
