Pongrass Publishing Systems demonstrates Web Browser-based Version 6 of its newspaper advertising software at NEXPO 2007
Press release from the issuing company
NEXPO 2007, Orlando, FL, April 21, 2007— Pongrass Publishing Systems, a leading developer and integrator of database-driven software systems for newspapers, magazines, and directories is demonstrating the beta release version of Version 6 of its newspaper advertising suite of software in booth #1535a at NEXPO 2007, April 21-24, in Orlando, FL.
The new Version 6 of Pongrass software, several years in the making, fully and completely replicates the user experience and functionality of the Company’s earlier, Windows-based software versions. This capability is not available in many other Web-oriented advertising software products in the industry, and is based on the AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) programming technique for web pages. The use of the AJAX technique ensures that new versions of Pongrass software are platform independent on all common browsers for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux operating systems. Most important to the user experience, AJAX ensures that the browser remains active and in communication with the server without constant screen redraws during the entire ad entry process, keeping communications overhead to a minimum.
Because of the unique browser capabilities of Pongrass Version 6 software, customers do not need to install new software applications at each client workstation. In addition, as Version 6 software retains the complete look and feel of the older Version 5 software suite, operator retraining is minimal if not virtually eliminated.
Pongrass Version 6 software is massively scalable through support for clusters of Apache Tomcat Servers with either the Sybase ASA or Microsoft SQL Server Database. New in Version 6 is support for the Sybase SQL Anywhere 10 server. This provides a number of significant enhancements in the fields of performance and security and support for databases over 100 Gbyte and 1000’s of users. It also provides new protection mechanisms including robust database mirroring and an automatic failover system to increase data availability.
“Version 6 of our advertising suite is the culmination of several years of development work,” says Les Pongrass, CEO of Pongrass Publishing Systems. “During this time we had to rethink and completely revamp our architecture to take account of AJAX programming techniques. However, the results are worth it. With low deployment costs due to the pure browser client, and even lower training requirements the system is a perfect match for installations of any size.”
