Pazazz First Indy Printer in Quebec to be Triple Certified
Press release from the issuing company
Montreal, Quebec, June 19, 2008 - Pazazz, a leading independent printing company, announced today that it has received two new Chain-of-Custody (COC) certifications. Added to its current Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification are now The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) and The Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI) certification. This triple certification distinguishes Pazazz as a leader in environmental practices in the print industry.
The PEFC Council is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organization, founded in 1999, which promotes sustainably-managed forests through independent third party certification. The PEFC provides an assurance mechanism to purchasers of wood and paper products ensuring they are promoting the sustainable management of forests.
The SFI program is based on the premise that responsible environmental behavior and sound business decisions can co-exist. SFI program participants practice sustainable forestry on all lands which they manage. This unique commitment to sustainable forestry recognizes that all forest landowners, not just SFI program participants, play a critical role in ensuring the long-term health and sustainability of our forests.
The FSC Council is a non-profit organization, promoting environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable management of the world's forests. FSC certification is recognized internationally as the most rigorous environmental and social standard for responsible forest management.
Triple certification is Pazazz's latest initiative in a company-wide environmental strategy that is committed to going green. "Pazazz Printing received FSC certification in January 2006, and in October 2007, Pazazz Labels became the first FSC certified label converter in Quebec," explains Warren Werbitt, Founder and CEO of Pazazz. "We were determined to offer our clients PEFC and SFI certification options as well. Now we are leaders in environmentally friendly standards nearly across the board. We work hard at informing our clients about environmentally beneficial options and at promoting environmentally-friendly paper, inks and labels."
