Accord Productions Installs High-Volume CD/DVD Printer

Press release from the issuing company

MIAMI (Oct. 9 2007) -- Accord Productions has installed the 2Print Industrial UV Optical Printer, a high-volume, high-quality ink printer for CDs and DVDs at its Miami headquarters. The machine, one of only six in the country, entered full production Oct. 1.
The high-speed industrial replicator and duplicator prints directly on prerecorded standard-size mirror-finish CD/DVDs and 80mm mini-discs as well. The $500,000 machine supports graphics in all standard formats and is capable of printing 800 discs per hour at photo quality or 1,600 per hour at medium quality.
"There are only six of these machines in the whole country, and this is the only one in the Southeast," said Max Wyler, president of Accord Productions. "With this increased capacity, our goal is to be able to provide same-day or next-day turnaround on most jobs."
The highly automated system eventually will have a Web interface for entering orders remotely. After downloading a template from the Web site, a customer uploads the finished artwork. The system sends back a proof and, upon approval, the machine produces a PDF and places the job in the print queue.
Wyler sees applications for the high-output printer for producers, ad agencies and businesses that want to replicate electronic media quickly and cost-effectively.
"Branding, image discs and one-offs are going to be very popular," he said. "I also think print shops will be big customers because this machine will enable us to come in cheaper than printed disc labels."
Accord, which is entering its 20th year in the South Florida production market, has facilities in Miami and Fort Lauderdale. The company offers a full array of standard video and high-definition services as well as duplication of VHS, CD and DVD formats, standard conversion, post-production, video crews and a wide variety of other services.
