Chrysler Worldwide Awards GSSI Their International Catalog Program
Press release from the issuing company
Mission Viejo, California, November 11, 2008-- Global Sourcing Solutions, Inc. (GSSI), a leading international sales, sourcing and logistics company, with a focus on printing, packaging and premium promotional products, today announced it has recently been awarded the printing of the Chrysler Worldwide catalog program.
Known as the showroom brochure, this critical piece of sales collateral is commonly given to prospective car buyers for the company's European, Middle Eastern and Japanese versions of all of the popular Jeep, Dodge and Chrysler products. Long considered the most demanding part of Chrysler's catalog business from the production standpoint, the international books are used throughout France, Belgium, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Poland and the United Kingdom. They require multiple language versions as well as various regional artwork options. To accommodate the client, GSSI deployed a managed print and delivery strategy, ensuring that each country received the right catalogs based on their national and regional specifications, including language, packaging and shipping requirements.
"We had to be very careful to ensure that each model and version matched exactly. For example, countries such as Switzerland require catalogs in three languages, each based on a specific region," said Thomas F. Vendetti, GSSI Senior Vice President and sales lead for the Chrysler account. "We knew that this international work would be challenging as there are language translations for all models and multiple levels of approvals. Together with Chrysler's advertising agency, BBDO, our goal is to save our client's money and produce a top quality product," Vendetti added.
To begin this highly detailed project, GSSI conducted an extensive analysis/evaluation of providers in Asia and Europe. They chose to work with printers in Korea and Bulgaria that could provide in-country management as well as logistics. The printers were chosen for their reputations, ability to manage fluid situations and pricing. For example, in Korea, the catalogs must be shipped via ocean freight and packed precisely for Japanese market demands. For the European and Middle Eastern markets, GSSI chose a Bulgarian printer in Southeastern Europe who provided the best pricing and quality requirements on the European continent. Both printers are technically advanced and have invested in the modern equipment needed to support the complexity involved for Chrysler's catalog program.
