CIP4 Announces Free Seminars in California: Seminars Open to All Printers, Prepress Services and Developers

Press release from the issuing company

Washington, DC (September 24, 2007) - The International Cooperation for the Integration of the Processes in Prepress, Press and Postpress (CIP4) organization today announced that it will hold a day of free seminars on Sunday, October 7th in Foster City, CA, just outside of San Francisco, just prior to and in conjunction with a week-long series of CIP4 members-only meetings and interoperability testing events. These seminars will be hosted by EFI at their Corporate Headquarters (303 Velocity Way, Foster City, CA) and are open to anyone interested in learning how CIP4's Job Definition Format (JDF) works. The seminars are also free to the public; all that is required is that attendees register online in advance at http://www.cip4.org/activities/tutorial_registration.php.
There are two seminar sessions. The first, running from 9:00 AM until Noon, will provide an introduction to JDF itself; including how JDF structures are built, how JDF workflows are assembled and more. This first session is suitable for anyone interested in automating printing and publishing processes with JDF-enabled tools.
In the afternoon, a Developers' seminar and forum will be help from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM. This forum has been designed for engineers and technically savvy users including first time interoperability testing event participants, technically interested users, workflow consultants, and developers who are new to JDF. Topics will include:
- Prepress, Press and Postpress with JDF,
- Management Information Systems,
- Interoperating and ICS Documents,
- CIP4 Toolkits for JDF and JMF,
- JMF Messages, and More!
"Anyone that is tackling JDF for the first time, whether printers trying to implement JDF integration or companies trying to create JDF-enabled products for the first time, will find these sessions invaluable," said CIP4's CEO Margaret Motamed, also of EFI. "It's more than a seminar, it's a chance to meet some of the key technologists responsible for the JDF Specification and get questions that you may have about JDF answered directly. EFI is excited to have the opportunity to bring this event to the San Francisco Bay area printing and developers' community and we hope that many companies will take advantage of this opportunity.
Dr. Rainer Prosi of Heidelberg, and CIP4's Technical Director will lead both the morning and the afternoon sessions and will be accompanied in the afternoon by several CIP4 working group chairs from other member companies. Individuals that wish to attend should register online in advance at http://www.cip4.org/activities/tutorial_registration.php by October 6th.
