Heidelberg to Preview New Digital Print Manager for Canon Digital Press
Press release from the issuing company
KENNESAW, Ga., September 9, 2007 -- Heidelberg will demonstrate its new Digital Print Manager module for the Canon imagePRESS C7000VP at this year's Graph Expo, Canon USA booth # 2400, McCormick Place in Chicago from September 9 -12. Prinect Digital Print Manager integrates digital print systems of leading vendors, like Canon, into the Prinect workflow, resulting in a unified workflow for both offset and digital presses.
"Heidelberg and Canon both are committed to developing and supporting this interface on an open JDF format. We believe our customers will benefit greatly from the efficiency, transparency and automation of this new offering," says Dennis Ryan, Prinect Product Management, Heidelberg USA.
The Digital Print Manager allows prepress personnel to perform presettings of imagePRESS C7000VP in the Prinect Print Ready workflow plan and send them via a JDF job ticket together with print-prepared .pdf pages or small-format .pdf impositions. The Canon imagePRESS C7000VP will return to the Prinect Print Ready JMF status messages pertaining to operational progression of the job, such as number of copies printed, thus enabling job transparency and tracking. Costing data also can be returned to the Prinect Digital Print Manager and Prinect Printready System and then to a JDF-supporting MIS system, such as Heidelberg's Prinance.
"The seamless integration of Heidelberg's Digital Print Manager with our revolutionary imagePRESS C7000VP will allow Prinect users to integrate digital printing into their existing offset workflows, creating a truly hybrid environment," said Janet Cain, director and assistant general manager, Canon U.S.A., Inc. "One of the key goals of the imagePRESS Workflow Solutions program is to help our customers leverage the investments they have already made in the solutions that drive their businesses today. The integration of the imagePRESS C7000VP into the Heidelberg Prinect workflow allows our shared customers to gain efficiencies and maximize productivity."
"The main benefit of the new Digital Print Manager for Canon is that it increases workflow standardization so that the same systems applications and personnel that are used to support prepress offset printing also can be used to support digital printing," says Ryan. "This allows for a seamless hybrid offset/digital workflow for commercial printers while maximizing their investments in cutting-edge Prinect workflow modules."
Heidelberg's Digital Print Manager module for the Canon imagePRESS C7000VP will be available for purchase in early 2008.
