Altoona Mirror Upgrades press consoles from Goss

Press release from the issuing company

December 1st, 2008 – The Altoona Mirror recently upgraded its press consoles to take full advantage of a computer-to-plate system that will be installed soon. The newspaper chose Goss International because of its positive history with Goss technology and the experience the Goss International team has with Headliner Offset press systems.

The upgraded press consoles provide an efficient operator interface for centralized job control, press setup and quality control functions, and the simple operator screen functionality ensures minimal training effort, according to Dave Mentzler, pressroom manager.

"This was a textbook installation," Mentzler says. "Everything was on time or early. We had a lot of confidence in the crew. Some of them had even worked on the press when it was first installed."

"While the new system will enable us to take full advantage of its presetting system and give us better color and lower waste, what I like best is that now I can get parts for it," he adds.

The Altoona Mirror is located in Altoona, Pennsylvania and has a daily circulation of 33,000 newspapers.
