EFI's VUTEk 3360 is First to Convert Between Solvent and Dye Sublimation Inks In Just Two Minutes
Press release from the issuing company
FOSTER CITY, CA – April 9, 2007 – EFI, the world leader in color digital print servers, superwide format printers and inks, and print management solutions, today announced that its popular VUTEk 3360 superwide format printer can now switch between dye sublimation and solvent applications in minutes. An industry first, the 3360’s Fusion option is a unique ink delivery system that enables a clean changeover between traditional solvent and dye sublimation inks in two minutes without the need to flush the entire system, giving owners the ability to efficiently produce both types of applications from a single printer footprint. EFI will be showing this capability at the ISA International Sign Expo, the premier trade show serving the sign industry, to be held April 12-14, 2007, in Las Vegas.
“At EFI, we are always looking for ways to expand the capability of our presses and make them even more valuable business assets for our customers,” said Chuck Dourlet, vice president of marketing, EFI VUTEk. “The Fusion option does just that by allowing users to switch from traditional solvent-based applications, such as exhibition and display graphics and point-of-purchase materials, to dye sublimation textile applications in just two minutes.” The Fusion option is also available as a field-upgrade for the VUTEk UltraVu II 3360 or later systems.
Also being launched at the International Sign Expo for use with the VUTEk 3360 is EFI’s new UltraTex dye sublimation ink. UltraTex is a versatile ink solution that is wash-resistant and dryer-resilient for reusable indoor/outdoor graphics. UltraTex ink infuses into fabrics to produce vibrant colors with excellent draping qualities. It also offers the widest possible color gamut and operational stability for production efficiency.
The VUTEk 3360 system’s three meter roll-to-roll configuration, together with the new Fusion option, unlocks new opportunities for customers by enabling the use of solvent or dye-sublimation solvent inks for printing on a wider range of substrates, including direct printing on textiles. “With the Fusion option, the VUTEk 3360 becomes one of the most versatile superwide format printers in the market,” added Dourlet. “This provides an effective way for customers to extend the return on their investments as their businesses grow.”
EFI’s new Fusion option and UltraTex ink are available immediately.
