Press release from the issuing company
ROCHESTER, N.Y., April 4 -- For the second time in two years, Metropolitan Fine Printers won the Kodak Best Stochastic Printing Award presented by the International Association of Printing House Craftsmen (IAPHC). Metropolitan Fine Printers accepted the award at the IAPHC’s International Gallery Best of the Best Awards, Jan. 27, 2007, in Las Vegas.
The IAPHC awards celebrate outstanding achievement in the art and science of printing and related graphic arts, and are recognized globally as one of the graphic arts industry’s highest honors. “Best of the Best” awards honor those entries that set new levels of excellence. The Kodak Best Stochastic Printing award recognizes excellence in stochastic printing.
“Over the past two years, Metropolitan Fine Printers has demonstrated an award winning ability to produce print of the highest quality and Kodak is honored to recognize this accomplishment with back to back Kodak Best Stochastic Printing Awards,” said Kevin Joyce, Managing Director, United States and Canada, Kodak’s Graphic Communications Group. “The work produced by all of the Best of the Best winners proves that print is more powerful than ever as an integral and elemental ingredient in the media mix.”
Metropolitan Fine Printers used 10 micron KODAK STACCATO Screening to print its award winning entry, Woodward’s Presentation Folder and Magazine. This 24 page self cover brochure was created by Metropolitan Fine Printers for Westbank Properties Ltd.
Metropolitan Fine Printers, a Vancouver, Canada, based mid sized printer is in its 30th year of establishment. Metropolitan Fine Printers offers printing services for a wide range of commercial printing services, from complex eight color art reproductions to high end, UV coated brochures. Along with KODAK STACCATO Screening, Metropolitan Fine Printers also uses the KODAK PRINERGY Workflow System and a KODAK TRENDSETTER Platesetter.
KODAK STACCATO Screening, Kodak’s version of stochastic screening, produces high fidelity, continuous tone images that exhibit fine detail and an extended color gamut, creating a photographic experience free of visible printing artifacts, such as subject moiré and rosettes. STACCATO Screening eliminates gray level limitations and abrupt jumps in tone, while improving color and halftone stability allowing for a smooth and high quality color print job.
