Objectif Lune announces new capabilities for PlanetPress
Press release from the issuing company
Montreal, Quebec- March 5, 2008 - Objectif Lune, a leader in solutions for variable data printing, workflow solutions and web2print applications, announces the availability on March 12, 2008 of the latest version of PlanetPress Suite, Version 6.2. This latest version includes numerous new features for creating high impact documents such as the integration of Microsoft Excel business graphics, clipping capability as well as programming and workflow functionalities to make variable document development more productive.
More design capabilities for creating high impact documents
PlanetPress Suite Version 6.2 can now dynamically integrate and generate business graphics created with Microsoft Excel 2000 and higher. Users can incorporate even the most detailed spreadsheet graphics into their documents, customizing the type, colors and fonts as well as adding personalized information. One result is less time spent fine tuning and adjusting layouts by trial and error. For further ease of use and uninterrupted design, users can modify templates without affecting the original PlanetPress Design document.
"Nowadays, it is imperative to have documents that stand out, that quickly capture the readers' attention and that are easy to understand and these new PlanetPress Design capabilities let users bring Excel-based graphics into their variable documents. With this latest release, our customers also gain ways to increase the productivity of their document development and workflow," said Objectif Lune CEO Didier Gombert.
Adding to the possibility to integrate trendy new business graphics, new clipping capabilities for PlanetPress Design allow users to create striking effects with text and images with ease and accuracy. Users can preserve parts of images, while eliminating backgrounds outside of clipping paths for quicker document development. This fresh design style is increasingly popular for catalogs, flyers, brochures and transpromotional documents.
New Addressing Capabilities Improve Results and Opens a Wealth of Possibilities
PlanetPress Design also includes a dynamic new Address Object that facilitates the identification of address blocks independent of the data stream. Information in the address block can be converted to a metadata file for processing by a third-party application such as document re-ordering and data sorting and interfacing with addressing and postal software.
The address block can include up to eight address lines, and height will adjust dynamically and automatically from top to bottom or bottom to top allowing designers to accommodate multiple lines without impacting design specifications. A POSTNET barcode for example can be snapped into a fixed location below the address block. This avoids reading failures downstream and ensures postal discounts are captured.
Ten New Barcodes Added to Library
Printers are using automation to streamline workflow, and barcodes are essential for document tracking and workflow automation. With Version 6.2, the PlanetPress Design barcode library now includes ten new barcodes, including 2D barcodes such as Data Matrix, MaxiCode and QR Code.
The various new barcodes open PlanetPress Suite capabilities to a wider range of applications. Data Matrix codes are increasingly popular on printed media such as labels and transactional documents. The MaxiCode barcode is used on major postal companies' packing slips for sorting, tracking and addressing worldwide. QR Code barcodes storing addresses and URLs may appear on magazines, signs, buses, business cards and many other objects. A camera phone with the correct reader software can scan the QR Code, causing the phone's browser to launch and redirect to the programmed URL.
More Functionality for Variable Document Composition
PlanetPress Suite users now can define an unlimited number of process-wide or across-process custom variables for PlanetPress Watch and PlanetPress Server. The result is tighter workflow efficiency and flexibility without limitations on variables.
PlanetPress Suite Version 6.2 is also certified to work with CREO digital color servers for personalized printing using the latest version of PostScript-based VPS variable data format. Now VPS users can also take advantage of PlanetPress Suite capabilities in their color production workflow.
In addition to its own format, the PlanetPress Watch and PlanetPress Server database plug in can now save data files in XML, CSV or fixed-length format. Processing steps are reduced because conversion happens on the fly without an additional transformation plug in. A single default start-up process now executes each time the PlanetPress Watch or PlanetPress Server service launches. End users can ensure their systems are properly initialized for operation.
This latest release brings users of PlanetPress Suite a wealth of benefits for increasing their workflow efficiency as well as their document designing and development process. With the transpromo wave gaining in popularity, PlanetPress Suite responds to the needs of businesses looking to find new ways of attracting and retaining their readership interest with high quality design as well as offering advanced workflow capabilities for a complete and integrated solution.
As of March 12, users will be able to update or request a free demo of PlanetPress Suite Version 6.2 from www.objectiflune.com.
