dataplan Integrates Magazine and Newspaper Planning System JournalDesigner with Quark Publishing System 7
Press release from the issuing company
HAMBURG, Germany - November 21, 2007 - - QuarkAlliance partner dataplan GmbH and Quark Inc. announced today that they have integrated the magazine and newspaper planning system JournalDesigner with Quark Publishing System 7 (QPS), the company-s newly announced collaborative workflow solution. JournalDesigner is a valuable tool for planning editorial pages, positioning advertisements, and in the adjustment process between editing and advertising. The seamless integration of JournalDesigner and QPS 7 offers a joint solution that enhances collaboration for editorial and advertising staff, chief editors, and production planners.
Once the structure of a print product has been set up in JournalDesigner, including editorial sections and advertisements, users can generate corresponding files for use in QPS 7 with a single click and automatically allocate job assignments in QPS 7. Both systems always stay synchronized in the workflow. The monitoring of editorial alterations and ad placement control ensure a wide range of reliability and flexibility in the production process. This way the editorial staff and advertising sales department always use the latest up-to-date information for page planning. If an ad placement violates the predefined object rules, QPS 7 users are alerted immediately to avoid costly mistakes.
Metadata for editorial content and ads are updated in JournalDesigner in real time. In the Master Layout of JournalDesigner, which serves as the chief editor-s or production planner-s desk, the current progress of all articles, advertising and editorial elements, including their positioning, size, colours, production status, and authors, can be displayed in a clear, graphic form.
Dr. Wolfgang Zetsche, managing director of dataplan GmbH, is excited about the integration of JournalDesigner and QPS 7: "QPS 7 sets new standards for collaborative workflow systems. The intelligent concept takes into account current trends in the publishing industry and offers excellent technical possibilities for developing a joint solution. With QPS 7 and JournalDesigner seamlessly working together, we can provide our customers with fantastic opportunities for a streamlined magazine and newspaper production process."
Axel R. Paesike, sales director at Quark Central Europe, adds: "JournalDesigner makes the communication among all departments that are involved in the publishing workflow much easier. With the integration of JournalDesigner and QPS 7, publishers can break new ground in print media production by organizing more clear and efficient workflows. This will enable them to save time and work more cost efficiently."
