Takara Printing Selects Xythos for Secure Document Management

Press release from the issuing company

SAN FRANCISCO--July 18, 2007-- Xythos Software, a leading developer of basic document management software, today announced Takara Printing has selected its Xythos Document Manager and Xythos Drive to develop document management services for its clients. Takara Printing is Japan's leading provider of financial disclosure publishing services including proforma and prospectus submissions. Assist Micro, Xythos' Japanese distributor, managed the sales process for Takara Printing and will provide ongoing customer support.
Takara Printing is developing web-based solutions to simplify financial reporting procedures for public companies and their auditors. Takara Printing document templates can be safely updated and submitted over the web, helping reduce reporting errors and ensuring regulatory compliance. The Xythos-based service will provide improved system scalability and ease of use necessary to meet Takara Printing's growing service demands.
"For new Takara Printing customers the service will allow them to discard costly and time-consuming physical document preparation and submission procedures in favor of an automated web publishing process," stated Mr. Koji Aoki, associate senior corporate executive officer of Takara Printing. "Another important reason for choosing Xythos was the ease of customization for the purpose of strengthening end users' security, which would have been more complicated if we chose other platforms," he added.
With over 2,000 corporate customers relying on Takara Printing to publish annual reports and other regulated documents, it was imperative that the company provide the same level of security and control for customers of its web-based services. "Takara Printing has become a strategic partner of its customers and is helping them to take advantage of web technologies to advance their own business goals," said Taro Momose, president of Assist Micro. "With Xythos technology, Takara Printing is able to provide its customers with business services which leverage document-centric processes while achieving efficiencies afforded by electronic distribution and storage," he added. Fifty-five-year-old Takara Printing has advanced from a printing company to a strategic financial services support vendor for pre-IPO and public organizations by continuing to introduce technology-driven process improvements in this manner.
"Open standards-based document management solutions provide the flexibility to easily integrate with a wide variety of business processes," said Ed Miller, CEO of Xythos Software. "We are pleased that Takara Printing has chosen Xythos technology to develop a valuable service to meet the financial reporting needs of Japan's business organizations," he added. Assist Micro's success helping Takara Printing address document compliance requirements follows a series of similar uses of Xythos technology in Japan where the distributor and its partners have developed financial reporting solutions for JSOX compliance (Japan's version of Sarbanes Oxley) and medical research compliance solutions.
