Chief Acquisition Officer Named for the U.S. Government Printing Office

WASHINGTON- Acting Public Printer William H. Turri announces the appointment of Dr. Dean Fish as the Chief Acquisition Officer for the U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO).  In this role, Dr. Fish will direct the planning and management of GPO's acquisition program that includes multi-million dollar federal acquisition and procurement initiatives of technical and information systems. 

Prior to his appointment, Dr. Fish spent three years at Booz Allen Hamilton in McLean, Virginia, where he led two technology-centric business groups - the Systems Development and Warfare Analysis Group and the Logistics Engineering Group.  He was responsible for business development and operations, created award winning intellectual capital, and contributed over $10 million in revenue and business opportunities to the firm.  From 1998-2004, Dr. Fish worked at Dynamics Research Corporation in Vienna, Virginia.  During his tenure, he was promoted to Director of the Operations Research, Modeling and Simulation Development Group from Deputy Director of Operations Research and Program Manager of Advanced Programs. 

Establishing and implementing new business concepts, he increased revenue threefold and oversaw five simulation-based systems development initiatives.  Dr. Fish also served 20 years in the U.S. Marine Corps retiring in 1998.  He participated in three military campaigns, served as senior leader in the acquisition professional community, and he designed and implemented the military Acquisition Work Force Program for the Marine Corps.  Throughout his military career, Dr. Fish was known for incorporating innovative industry best practices resulting in millions of dollars in savings to the government.

In 2007, Dr. Fish earned a Doctorate Degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.  His doctoral research was awarded Dissertation of the Year honors.  Dr. Fish received his Masters Degree in Operations Research from the Naval Postgraduate School in 1987, and he graduated from the United States Naval Academy as a Burke Scholar with a B.S. in Oceanography in 1981.
