Castle Press picks Komori to replace older presses
Press release from the issuing company
Rolling Meadows, IL, January 15, 2008- Komori America Corporation, a premier manufacturer of sheetfed and web offset printing presses, today announced that Castle Press, Pasadena, CA, recently installed a new automated, five-color Lithrone S40 (LS540) with coater to replace two older 40" Heidelberg presses. Founded in 1931 as a printer of fine limited edition books, Castle Press has grown into a commercial printing company that offers design, digital printing, web-to-print solutions, full bindery services, die cutting, folding, stitching, and mailing and fulfillment services in addition to sheetfed offset. Castle prides itself on offering a breadth of services that allows it to place a customer's job where it most economically belongs, whether it is one-to-one personalization or a large lithographed book. Castle, which is fully digital in CTP and workflow, acquired the new LS540 as part of a company policy which directs using cutting-edge equipment to achieve high quality printing.
The decision to purchase the LS540 resulted from Castle's requirement for the latest in state-of-the-art equipment for its formerly all-Heidelberg plant. Castle is using the new LS540 with its advanced systems to print high-quality marketing and collateral materials, primarily four- or five-color jobs, on which a coating is required.
"The printing industry is so competitive today, a printer just can't compete without a press that is built with the latest technology. We looked at the competition and found the Lithrone S40 offered the best return on our investment," said Susan Kinney, president of Castle Press. "We liked this press' ability to basically do makeready by itself and the fact that you are in color and in register using only a couple of hundred sheets with excellent print quality. Those were key factors in our decision."
"We are very pleased to be able to deliver a press with the capabilities that add to the high standards of Castle Press," said Paul Peyrebrune, vice president of sales for Komori's Western Region. "This installation also demonstrates that the Lithrone S40 series offers both the best value in 40" presses today as well as the productivity needed to meet the industry's requirement for state-of-the-art automation."
