Rolling Meadows, IL, January 31, 2007 -- Komori America Corporation, a premier manufacturer of sheetfed and web offset printing presses, today announced that ColorFX, Inc., a high-quality, full-service trade printer in the Los Angeles area, has installed a five-color, 40”Lithrone S40 (LS540) with coater. ColorFX works primarily with print brokers to produce work for ad agencies, graphic designers and other printers who may not have extensive color capabilities in-house. Based in Sun Valley, CA, the company also recently added an online ordering system to accept work from clients all across the country. As ColorFX’s third Komori press installation, the LS540 represents the company’s move into the 40” size format with the latest automation, including automated ink stations and Closed Loop Color. The company reports that the new press’ ease of use is making it the most productive on the pressroom floor, requiring only five to seven minutes of makeready time. “This new press is a totally different ball game. It’s so fast, it’s unbelievable,” said Ross Avedissian, president of ColorFX. “Having this press is going to open doors for us. We’ve found that we can do a lot of small runs now, which is very important because we’re getting more and more business from our online ordering. It is growing to about 20 percent of our business.” To demonstrate the power of the new press, ColorFX held an open house for about 120 clients and brokers only weeks after it was installed. “We gave ourselves a challenge,” said Avedissian. “We told our guests, ‘We’re going to take your picture, process it, and print it on the new press.’ We estimated it would take 31 minutes. We took the picture, put it in a calendar, printed it and as they were standing around the press, we handed them the calendars. And it took only 30 minutes. I tell other printers, if they want to run their businesses as efficiently as possible, they should buy this press.
