HAMILTON, Ohio--June 11 -- SMART Papers has expanded and upgraded its well-known, premium Pegasus line of text, cover and writing papers and has issued a new swatchbook to showcase the collection.

SMART Papers is North America's largest independent manufacturer and marketer of premium coated and uncoated printing papers. Pegasus is its leading uncoated line and one of the industry's highest-quality text and cover gradelines.

The Pegasus line's sophisticated 98-bright Brilliant White, warm Museum White and Midnight Black create a high-impact and elegant look for important print projects. All papers within the line are color laser and inkjet guaranteed as well as archival, acid-free and chlorine free.

The strikingly visual swatchbook was designed by Douglas Joseph Partners of Beverly Hills, CA and printed by Dallas-based Williamson Printing. The swatchbook photographs demonstrate state-of-the-art offset printing on a wide variety of papers in the Pegasus line. Detailed notes on how Williamson printed each of the images are provided, as is information about PANTONE color selection.

New Pegasus Fidelity Recycled

SMART Papers has added a 96-bright White and a Cream sheet with 30-percent post-consumer waste content to its offering. The sheets have a special print-enhanced surface treatment, which reduces dot gain, supports fine line screens and shortens drying time. Available in 80- to 100-lb. text and 80- to 110-lb. cover weights.

The new recycled paper has stunning image reproduction and maintains excellent ink holdout. It is an option for graphics professionals looking for sophisticated, high-end results on a post-consumer waste content sheet.

New heavyweight covers and larger sheet sizes

SMART Papers has expanded Pegasus heavyweight cover offerings with the addition of a durable, 160-lb. double-thick cover, ideal for presentation folders, table-tent cards and packaging.

The new weight prints smoothly on standard presses while maintaining a cardboard-like strength. It successfully handles demanding print processes such as embossing, foil stamping and die cutting, as well as extensive end-user handling. It joins the line's 130-lb. cover and complements the Pegasus publication cover weights. All are available in Vellum, Smooth or the innovative Pegasus Super Smooth finish.

The heavyweight cover is now available in the new, larger 28x40 sheet size. The new sheet size is also available in 80- and 100-lb. text.

The Pegasus cover offering features six weights, three colors and three finishes including a Midnight Black/Brilliant White duplex sheet. Its text offering features three weights, three colors and three finishes. All maintain superb formation and ink holdout.

Expanded Pegasus Digital Color Copy offerings

SMART has expanded its Pegasus offering of printing papers engineered specifically for digital presses and production-rated color copiers.

The Pegasus Digital Color Copy line has been modernized and streamlined and features a specially enhanced imaging surface for sharp image output on all digital presses, laser printers, inkjet printers and color copiers. Pegasus HP Indigo papers are sapphire treated and guaranteed for use on HP Indigo presses. The Pegasus Digital Xeikon rolls have been specially RIT scripted for Xeikon presses.

Pegasus writing papers, envelopes, cards and labels: mill-stocked, readily available

The Pegasus writing papers stylishly communicate a crisp and sophisticated image. They are available in three weights, two colors and three finishes, are stocked with matching envelopes, announcement cards and labels and are watermark free. The sheets accept any type of letterhead design, including foil-stamping, engraving and embossing, with ease and outstanding results.

To accompany the line's writing papers, the Pegasus Envelopes, Cards & Labels program allows customers to create compatible communication programs with items such as matching envelopes, notecards, folders and labels. The line has 28 possible envelope style and color combinations and has two pre-cut sizes of labels. SMART Papers has a mill-stocking program, offering easy sourcing for its customers.
