Cadmus Expands Print Production Partnership With the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
Press release from the issuing company
1/3/2007 -- Cadmus Communications Corporation announced today that it will expand its current print production services provided to American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) to include ASBMB Today, the Society's monthly, 32- page full-color magazine for its members. The full range of production services to be performed at Cadmus' Columbia and Easton, Maryland facilities include copyediting, composition and printing. The journal production services that Cadmus currently provides for The Journal of Biological Chemistry (JBC) and Molecular and Cellular Proteomics (MCP) will be supplemented by XML conversion services for JBC under a separate contract. ASBMB, a leader in the biochemistry and molecular biology community, was an early adopter of Cadmus ArticleWorks(TM), a comprehensive content delivery and digital rights management system that permits publishers and content providers to market, sell and deliver content-on-demand from their Web site in both electronic and print formats.
ASBMB indicated that Cadmus has repeatedly demonstrated profound market knowledge and best practices for working with the Society throughout their long-standing relationship. Barbara Gordon, executive director at ASBMB commented that, "Our 100-plus year relationship with Cadmus creates a strong business foundation for expanding the partnership we have developed together. Cadmus assisted with the redesign of both JBC and ASBMB Today which creates a more compelling and consistent publication for our members. Their quality of work, personalized customer service and customized workflows are important factors in producing publications that help strengthen relationships with members and attract new ones."
Nancy Rodnan, director of publications at ASBMB added, "Cadmus' streamlined approach to the production process allows us to work with a single service provider for ASBMB Today whereas we were previously monitoring and juggling tasks between two vendors. The end-to-end services furnished by Cadmus automate the production process in a single, highly customized workflow that eases the workload on our end."
Cadmus recently made a $50 million capital investment in state-of-the-art printing and finishing equipment to support the changing needs of their customers. Bruce Thomas, president and chief executive officer with Cadmus remarked, "This major investment in new equipment positioned us to expand our production capacity, to support a wider range of publications and print runs, and to deliver on our strategy of being a leading provider of full service solutions for professional publishers. We're excited that ASBMB continues to entrust their production needs to Cadmus."
