Dec 21, 2006 -- Bowne & Co., Inc. announced that, as previously indicated, President and Chief Operating Officer David J. Shea will become Bowne's Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer effective December 31, 2006. Philip E. Kucera will retire as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at that time but will continue to serve as a member of the Bowne Board of Directors. Mr. Kucera, 64 years old, joined Bowne as Senior Vice President and General Counsel in December 1998 and was appointed Chief Executive Officer in May 2004 and Chairman in May 2005. Mr. Shea, 51 years old, has held a number of leadership positions at Bowne since joining the company in 1998. He was named President and Chief Operating Officer of Bowne in October 2004.
