Dorking Litho is 1,500th Customer to Install KODAK PRINERGY EVO Workflow System

Press release from the issuing company

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Dec. 13—Dorking Litho, a UK based traditional lithographic printing company, recently installed the KODAK PRINERGY EVO Workflow System as part of a complete computer to plate (CTP) solution, making it the 1,500th customer in the world to choose KODAK’s flexible and affordable PDF workflow system since April 2004. Dorking Litho is a family business that has been in operation for 42 years, during which time it has experienced a lot of change. Concentrating predominantly on traditional litho printing, in recent years the company has recognized market demand and expanded its services to include fast color run work. "Previously, the majority of our business was in stationery and booklet work, but a few years ago we made a conscious decision to move into small and medium run color work, and to this end invested in a five color press," commented Ian Walder, Managing Director at Dorking Litho. "We also planned a move toward processless CTP, as not only did we need a more efficient system, but being environmentally aware, we wanted to get away from the chemicals that go hand in hand with traditional printing. After evaluating all of the top equipment on the market and receiving excellent support from Kodak, we chose to go with the KODAK MAGNUS 400 Platesetter with autoloader and KODAK THERMAL DIRECT Non Process Printing Plates. To back this up at the front end, the PRINERGY EVO Workflow System was the obvious choice." He continued, "We really wanted a flexible, user friendly, solution for our workflow system and, in fact, we spent far more time looking into this than we did evaluating the CTP devices. Everything we ordered from Kodak was installed together, and even after just a few weeks we are absolutely delighted with the results the PRINERGY EVO Workflow System is bringing us. Previously, the prepress department spent ages altering files that arrived in all sorts of different formats, now this is all automated for us." Sharon Evans, Production Director at Dorking Litho added, "Using the PRINERGY EVO Workflow System has been very exciting for us. Of course there has been a huge learning curve, but the system has made massive differences that include the speed at which we can throughput files and the confidence that there will be no errors on our plates. We are absolutely delighted with it." The KODAK PRINERGY EVO Workflow System is a scaleable solution that can grow with customer expansion. It is an end to end, flexible PDF workflow management tool for prepress, plate or film production that organizes page processing, proofing, computer to film and computer to plate. Based on state of the art technologies and equipped to support PDF, JDF and ICC standards, the family of PRINERGY Workflow System products increases efficiency and reduces the cost of production. Since its launch in April 2004, the PRINERGY EVO Workflow System family has proved extremely popular. "The benefits that the complete KODAK system has brought us include an increase in the quality of our four color work, cost savings by moving to processless plates, and a huge increase in efficiency stemming from the PRINERGY EVO Workflow System, with plates now being output up to four times more quickly than before," added Walder. "To reach 1,500 end users so quickly is an excellent endorsement for our PRINERGY EVO Workflow System," said John Ward, Product Manager, PRINERGY EVO Workflow Software, Kodak’s Graphic Communications Group. "It shows just how rapidly the print world is adopting PDF as the standard, and how our systems can help smaller businesses increase efficiency." "With the KODAK equipment we now have, we are confident that we will be able to save enough money to invest sometime soon in a newer five color press and expand the business even further," concluded Walder. KODAK products are backed by KODAK Service and Support, Kodak’s worldwide service organization.
