Dalim Software Announces Compatibility For Intel-Based Apple Mac Os X Systems

Press release from the issuing company

Kehl, Germany - Dalim Software, a global leader in the design and development of innovative and automated professional production workflow software for prepress, print, packaging, advertising and publishing, announces compatibility for the new Intel-processor based Apple Macintosh systems throughout the Dalim Software production automation product line by the end of the year. Dalim Software has always been an innovator in the adoption of new operating systems. They were one of the first companies to embrace the Linux operating system as a platform for their software applications and, likewise, were one of the first to develop print production applications to run under Mac OS X. Every new Mac uses a chip based on Intel Core technology, the next generation in processor design. New applications bearing the Universal symbol run natively on both Intel- and PowerPC- based Mac computers. These applications take full advantage of the Intel chip designed for exceptional performance with the Intel Core Duo. Until an application is ready as a "Universal" application, it is still able to operate on computers built with the new Intel processors, thanks to Rosetta, a utility built into Mac OS X, which works behind the scenes to ensure that most existing applications continue to work productively. Rosetta dynamically translates most PowerPC-based applications to work with an Intel-based Mac. With Rosetta, existing Dalim Software applications, such as DALiM DiALOGUE, DALiM MiSTRAL, DALiM TWiST, and DALiM PRiNTEMPO will continue to work. However, the upcoming versions of Dalim Software applications will be able to take advantage of the full processing power and input/output capabilities of the Intel Core Duo processors. "Those familiar with Dalim Software know that our company is always stretching the performance of our applications. This includes maximizing advantage of any hardware platform." says StÈphane Georges, product manager Dalim Software. "After testing the new Intel-based Apple hardware, we were amazed and astonished at the performance and return-on-investment afforded by the new architecture, so much so, in fact, that we decided to push forward our "OS X On Intel" development plans to be able to introduce native support earlier than originally planned. The new Apple hardwareóespecially the new Xserveórunning Dalim Software applications, represents a really powerful argument for small-to-medium sized graphic arts companies looking for performance, reliability all at a great price point." The new versions of Dalim Software Intel-based Apple Macintosh applications are expected to be ready for beta testing within the next few weeks.
