InfoTrends Forecasts Western European Print On Demand Market through 2010

Press release from the issuing company

(Weymouth, MA) November 07, 2006Ö According to new forecast data from InfoTrends, the production copying and digital printing market in Western Europe accounted for 404 billion impressions in 2005. It is expected to grow to 484 billion A4 impressions in 2010, generating total annual equipment, supply, and service revenues of nearly Ä12.5 billion. The retail value of print is expected to exceed Ä44 billion. Color print on demand continues to be the driver behind this growth, which is primarily due to the success of production color devices (i.e. printers and copier/printers with speeds of 24+ pages per minute). InfoTrends expects the retail value of print in Western European production color print-on-demand environments to experience a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 30% over the forecast period. Black & white print on demand will grow, but at a much slower rate than color. This is due in part to the continued shift of black & white pages to color devices such as Universal Copier/Printers (UCPs). Annual impressions will reach their peak in 2007. Revenues are starting to decline as a result of the price and cost pressure. InfoTrends new forecast, Western European Print On Demand Market Forecast: 2005-2010, provides a five year forecast for the Western European on demand, data processing, and production copying markets. The work for this forecast was accomplished by InfoTrends' consulting staff, who conducted primary and secondary research in the marketplace. "People are using a variety of different tools, techniques, and services to accomplish their required business objectives," commented Ralf Schlozer, an Associate Director at InfoTrends. "Despite all of the choices people have out there now, the key message incorporated into this forecast is that the opportunities and growth potential in digital printing remain significant."
