Outreach, Inc. Installs Second Komori Press

Press release from the issuing company

Rolling Meadows, IL, October 5, 2006 -- Komori America Corporation, a premier manufacturer of sheetfed and web offset printing presses, recently installed an eight-color Lithrone S40 with perfector (LS840P) with coater at Outreach, Inc. in Vista, California. This is the second Komori press for Outreach, the largest provider of church communication products in North America. With the installation of the new Komori press, Outreach now has the ability to print four colors on both sides—opening up a new market for personalized postcard direct mail pieces and church bulletin shells to its customer base which consists of several thousand churches of all denominations. The versatility of the press is also perfect for the other products the company produces such as banners; brochures; training tools; welcome boxes and more. Key drivers in the decision to add another Komori press included the company’s computerized makeready capabilities, which support the need for fast turnaround critical to achieving the stringent deadlines to which the company must adhere due to the high volume of seasonal work typical for the market it serves. The ability of the press to meet complex color needs and deliver a color consistency that ensures the superior print quality required for the communication materials it produces is due to the automatic inking capabilities of the LS840P. These and other advanced technologies of the press are saving Outreach labor costs and adding to the capacity needed to run three eight-hour shifts seven days a week during the company’s three busy seasons. “Our business is seasonal by nature—with fall, Christmas and Easter being our busiest times. So we can’t be down long should there be any problems. Komori has always been very responsive; their service history with us is excellent. Because of this reliability, the need for more advanced productivity and the ability to do four-over-four color, we didn’t think twice when we decided to purchase a new press. We went straight to Komori,” said Paul Busse, vice president of finance, administration and operations for Outreach, Inc. “They have been extremely supportive over the years, from top-level management on down.” The dramatic production capacity of the Komori LS840P is made possible by the Komori double circumference, three-cylinder configuration. This cylinder configuration results in a smooth, consistent sheet path that substantially reduces the sheet damage inherent in conventional perfectors. This results in less waste and achieving a speed to market that is vital to Outreach’s high volume, deadline-intensive business. “Time to market is the name of the game in every printer’s business world, but with Outreach it is even more critical to staying competitive,” said Paul Peyrebrune, vice president of sales for Komori’s Western Region. “We are pleased the Komori Lithrone S40 supports Outreach’s goals and we value the long-term relationship we have with such a fine organization.”
